    Finance Coordinator

    Job Identification: 1411

    Child Safeguarding

    • Level 3 - the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

    Scope of Role:

    • Reports to: Senior Finance Manager

    • Role Dimensions: complexity, relationships, communication with stakeholders

    Key Areas of Accountability

    • Review all payment requests using his or her knowledge of SCI finance policies and other procedural manuals, donor rules and regulations, government /host countries rules and regulations.
    • Leading on the recording of all processed transaction on SCI financial management systems and ensuring all transactions are correctly coded and approved by budget holder.
    • Lead on invoice management procedure for the country office, ensuring all invoices are actioned within set timelines and vendors, receive value based on agreed timelines.
    • Directly lead, manage, and motivate all team members, ensuring all team members have clear set goals, appraisals are recorded on a timely basis, thereby integrating performance management in day to work activities.
    • As a member of the procurement committee, ensure SCI receives value from each procurement.
    • Complete all amortization for all prepaid cost and ensure all consolidated invoices are reallocated to awards.
    • Actively participate in month end and year end process ensuring all financial records are updated accurately and on time.
    • A thorough understanding of SCI safeguarding policy and applying these policies in his/her role.
    • Manage the balance sheet and ensure all corrective actions are completed before month end and year end close.
    • Monthly analysis of spend and cost drivers for senior management decision.

    Additional job responsibilities:

    • The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Finance related subject and professional accountancy qualifications.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience and preferably with some experience in a complex organisation
    • Advanced people management skills, advance project management skills

    Experience and Skills:
    Mandatory:

    • Ability to influence and support colleagues in appreciating the importance of financial standards, procedures, and controls.
    • Proficient in computer skills with an excellent working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.
    • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently, be pro-active and innovative, and work to deadlines.
    • Thorough understanding of financial system, accounting rules and audit guidelines, and how it interacts with other operational systems to maximise its information generating capabilities and accountability.
    • Good interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
    • Ability to handle a large volume of work systematically, effectively, and accurately.
    • Ability to foresee risks and allow for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.
    • Ability to take ownership of all responsibilities and honour commitments; delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within prescribed time, cost and quality standards; operates in compliance with organizational regulations and rules.
    • An understanding of Nigeria local tax laws and other compliance regulations
    • Ability to navigate new technologies easily

    Added Advantage:

    • Audit experience
    • Knowledge of Agresso is a plus
    • Good knowledge of donor rules and regulations including but not limited to USAID, FCDO, EU, etc.
    • Experience working in a multi donor environment is considered a very strong advantage.
