    Livelihood Trainer

    Category 6 (1 Briquette Making, 1 Livestock Production,1 Small Business Development, 1 Micro Gardening, 2Community Field Staff)

    MAIN PURPOSE

    Supporting the implementation and supervision of Livelihood activities, including tools and materials employed according to TPO standards and protocols, to enhance the living conditions and economic well-being of the target population.

    As a Livelihood Trainer, your responsibilities will include providing training in a range of agricultural-related skills, including:

    • Train beneficiaries in techniques for planting, nurturing, and harvesting crops that are suitable for the local climate and soil conditions.
    •  Provide training on raising and caring for animals such as poultry, goats, and cows, focusing on feeding, healthcare, and breeding practices.
    • Instruct beneficiaries on pond management, fish care, and harvesting techniques for sustainable fish farming.
    • Educate beneficiaries on setting up and managing irrigation systems to ensure a reliable water supply for crops.
    • Promote the use of organic methods to minimize chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
    • Explain the stages of agricultural value chains, from production through processing, marketing, and distribution.
    • Providing training in agribusiness skills, covering marketing, business planning, and adding value to agricultural products.
    • Guide beneficiaries in choosing suitable seeds and implementing crop rotation to maintain soil fertility
    • Teach beneficiaries soil testing, improvement, and conservation techniques to ensure healthy, productive soil.
    • Instruct beneficiaries on identifying, preventing, and managing crop diseases and pests using environmentally friendly methods.
    •  Train beneficiaries on proper techniques for handling, storing, and preserving harvested agricultural products to reduce losses.
    •  Advise beneficiaries on adapting farming practices to climate change and implementing measures to mitigate its impact.
    •  Instruct beneficiaries on the safe operation and maintenance of essential farm machinery and equipment.
    •  Encourage beneficiaries to form agricultural cooperatives to pool resources and share knowledge.
    • Teach beneficiaries basic financial management skills, including budgeting, saving, and accessing credit for agricultural ventures.
    • Guide beneficiaries in conducting market research to identify demand and opportunities for agricultural products in the region.
    • Promote methods that conserve natural resources and protect the environment.
    • Educate beneficiaries on the risks associated with farming and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Train beneficiaries in briquette making.
    • Engage with community members to identify and sort out beneficiaries for various training programs.
    • Participate in the need assessment of beneficiaries to tailor training programs effectively.

    Qualifications/Experiences:

    • Minimum of a Diploma in relevant fields (Agriculture-related courses) with at least two years of working experience preferably in an emergency setting.
    • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
    • Good IT skills, including the use of Word and database software.
    • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing program priorities.
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
    • Commitment to TPO Protection Policy.

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of local languages.
    • Experience and skills in the management of staff.
    • Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions.
    • Understanding of the regional dynamics of the relevant field.
    • Experience in working in an insecure environment.
    • People in those locations are highly encouraged to apply.
