Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Sourcing Officers at Salad Markets Limited

We are searching for highly organized, decisive and flexible individuals that has solid experience in the sourcing of highest quality fresh fruits and vegetables sector, to work as our pioneer – Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Sourcing Officers in the following locations:

• Zaria, Kaduna State, North West Nigeria.
• Jos, Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.

Requirements

• At least 7 to 10 years of solid, practical, and working experience in the sourcing of highest quality fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Regular travel in the state and other states within the geo-political zone.
• Extremely detailed, with good thought process and extensive knowledge of the fresh produce value chain.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and trustworthy.
• Resumes daily at the regional office.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential farmers, growers, retailers, wholesalers and other local and international suppliers of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Identify, source and procure the best quality fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers, growers, retailers, wholesalers, and other local and international suppliers.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and at a competitive price.
• Ensure all sourced products meet our sustainability and ethical sourcing policies.
• Conduct regular supplier audits and ensure compliance with relevant food safety and quality standards.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs and reduce waste.
• Leverage agronomy expertise to evaluate the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Work closely with the sales, marketing and operations team to manage inventory and forecast demand.
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to promote our fresh produce and educate customers on the nutritional benefits of safe, hygienic and nutritional fruits and vegetables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field
• Experience in fresh produce sourcing and procurement
• Strong knowledge of organic farming practices and standards
• Willingness to travel 2-3 days per week across the state and other states within the geo-political zone.
• Understanding of fresh fruits and vegetables market trends
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Familiarity with food safety and quality standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and GSuite tools. 
• Attention to Detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
