    PSM Intern

    Overview

    • The PSM Intern will work in close collaboration with the state-based SCMS Specialist and project partners on all aspects of project management and implementation at the state level.
    • The intern will assist the Specialist in ensuring that the project functions efficiently, providing oversight to all project activities.
    • S/he will assist with logistics processes in project-related SCMS and documentation.
    • Additionally, s/he will assist the SCMS Specialist in ensuring that all technical activities under the project are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
    • S/he assists the specialists in providing oversight to LGA level routine activities e.g. LGA data validation meetings, data entry, supply chain data collection, spot-checks on the last-mile distribution of health commodities, training, and so on.

    Responsibilities

    • Drafting/ compilation of activity reports
    • Preparation of internal process tools such as activity profiles, purchase requests, travel advance requests, and expense reports.
    • Assisting the Specialist with logistics arrangements for meetings/ workshops or training with the state government other partners/ stakeholders.
    • Keeping an inventory of project equipment at the state level
    • Participating in accessing activity progress to ensure that the partners and local contractors maintain close adherence to work plans, meet designated milestones, deliverables, benchmarks, and provide technical assistance when needed.
    • Assisting in monitoring program implementation and use of resources.
    • Support oversight of routine activities such as LMIS data review on NHLMIS platform, POD reconciliation & validation, BIDIDT, and BFSR Quality Improvement.
    • Support data entry routinely at the state level
    • Support the tracking of last-mile distribution of malaria health products and so on.
    • S/he will support knowledge management functions including documentation of success stories and lessons learned.
    • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
    • One year or less of experience in malaria project implementation, public health or health systems strengthening is required;
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level colleagues, stakeholders, and donors.
    • Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
    • Willingness to travel at about 25% of the time
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office Packages-Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English are essential.
    • Training development and facilitation skills.
    • Program Management skills.

    Data Quality Assurance (DQA) Officer - Zamfara (10 Months Contract)

    Position Summary

    • The DQA Officer position will provide support to data quality management, including data collection, quality checks, and reporting at the state, LGA and community levels as applicable.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the State M&E/HSS Officer in the implementation of M&E activities, including data collection, data quality checks, and reporting.
    • Provide support and build capacity of LGA and health facility M&E officers in data quality management 
    • Participate and provide technical support in monthly LGA data validation meetings.
    • Conduct routine data quality assessments at health facilities in conjunction with LGA M&E officers
    • Support conduct of quarterly DQA exercise in primary and secondary health facilities across the state. 
    • Review health facility data monthly to identify and address data quality issues prior to reporting.
    • Document data quality issues and share with the SMEP M&E officer, LGA M&E officers and health facilities for necessary corrections.
    • Develop follow up action plans and ensure that all identified data quality issues are resolved by the LGA M&E officers and HFs at the end of each reporting month.
    • Where relevant, work with State iCCM Data Officer to ensure iCCM data are collated, analyzed, presented at review meetings, and used for iCCM programming
    • Represent the programme in technical fora, such as the SMEP M&E Sub-committee meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • B.Sc. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or closely related discipline with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. A post-graduate degree in a related Medical Statistics and Epidemiology discipline is an added advantage.
    • Deep understanding and knowledge of malaria M&E systems in Nigeria and/or comparable country contexts.
    • Familiarity with data validation tools
    • Excellent knowledge of use of DHIS2
    • Excellent computer skills, including in Excel and in at least one statistical software package, preferably Stata, alternatively SPSS or R; knowledge of other data software an advantage, such as mapping software
    • Demonstrated experience in managing malaria program data, with a record of achieving programme objectives
    • Deep understanding and knowledge of health systems’ dynamics and challenges in data management in relation to Nigeria’s response to malaria
    • Excellent spoken and written English
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • Ability to work under pressure, flexible and open to extra working hours, if necessary.
    • Very good negotiation and communication skills and ability to express views and ideas
