    Facility and Stores Assistant

    Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2019-031
    Location:  Kano
    Recruitment Type: National (2-year renewable contract)

    Duties
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Receive fuel and other store items for the Station, while receiving fuel ensure use of flow meter and should be done in the presence of other staff and security to ensure correctness of quantity and quality
    • Issue fuel to IITA vehicles and generators as approved on the fuel slip and issuance of other store items should be done only with duly approved SRV
    • Maintain proper record for all stored items and provide accurate details of usage every month for charge back
    • Make request on time for needed store items for restocking before they are completely exhausted
    • Assist in updating and managing Station assets register as required by IITA procedure
    • Supervise admin casuals (cleaners and, gardeners) and SIWES
    • Work in collaboration with the workshop personnel to oversee any plumbing, electrical and cleaning work in the station
    • Assist with office management regarding allocation, usage and air-condition maintenance;
    • Perform all other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualification

    • BSc or HND in Business Administration, Public Administration, Purchasing and Supply or any related qualification with four (4) years working experience in a similar position.

    Competencies:
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Be computer literate,
    • Have good knowledge of facility store management.
    • Have ability to drive
    • Have good written and oral communication skills.

    Youth Led Enterprise Development Officer

    Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2019-030
    Locations: Borno & Adamawa
    Recruitment Type: National (2-year renewable contract)

    Duties

    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Lead trainees in the development of successful business plans
    • Facilitate systemic, ongoing mentoring of entrepreneurs by peer and private sector mentors
    • Facilitate and track the progress of funding applications to finance trainees
    • Identify business opportunities and prospective and potential successful business alliance
    • Participate in platform (establish these if needed) on the USAID NFO funded project value chains and establish business incubation partnership for sustainability; set up meeting with prospective partners and stakeholders in collaboration with other project staff
    • Supervise and monitor developed enterprises alongside the M&E manager and the Youth and Gender facilitator
    • Perform any other duties assigned, as may be occasioned by the exigencies of the service.

    Qualifications

    • BSc/HND or advanced degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or related field with at least three (3) years of relevant job experience from International organizations/NGOs/donors preferably linked to tropical agriculture or International development.

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Be computer literate with a good working knowledge of computer-based control systems, shared network drives, and excel packages
    • Have excellent communication, supervisory and leadership skills as well as communicate and write effectively in English
    • Have understanding of youth empowerment and enterprise set up in target food shed
    • Have deep understanding of the agricultural value chains
    • Have understanding of developing business plans for agricultural enterprise
    • Have experience of coordinating and supporting youth led enterprises and be able to efficiently conduct and support training for Agricultural enterprises during incubation and short-term trainings
    • Have understanding of the approach to adopt in supporting growth of agricultural enterprises
    • Have experience in working with youths and should be able to link them to private sector and finance partners for financial and enterprise development support
    • Have knowledge of linking youths with Government officials and private sector to negotiate access to land and equipment for new enterprise development
    • Be experienced in youth empowerment, enterprise set-up and establishing a mentorship program for youth entrepreneurs
    • Be experienced in establishing and maintaining partnership with the private sector to contract youth entrepreneurs
    • Have ability to communicate in one or more of northern Nigeria’s major languages is an advantage
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

    Youth Led Training Officer

    Duties
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Will lead the development, management, and implementation of all the training programs for the identified youths
    • Coordinate efforts of all identified partners in contributing to training activities
    • Select trainee cohorts and input to the trainee database identification and screening of sites for training and entrepreneur incubation
    • Determine the equipment needs of training sites and advice for upgrade
    • Lead training of trainers (TOT) for identified facilitators
    • Track and report on training outcomes
    • Integrate promising advanced agricultural technologies into the training curriculum
    • Assist with the development of curriculum that reflects private sector needs and standards of competency
    • Supervise and monitor trained youths alongside the M&E manager and Youth/gender facilitator
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • BSc/HND or advanced degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or related field with at least three (3) years of relevant job experience from International organizations/NGOs/donors preferably linked to tropical agriculture or International development.

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Be computer literate with a good working knowledge of computer-based control systems, shared network drives and maintaining database of trainers and training activities
    • Have excellent analytical and communicational skills
    • Be experience in statistical programs is an advantage.
    • Competence in the use of in the use of standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); is desirable
    • Have excellent communication and supervisory skills as well as communicate and write effectively in English
    • Have demonstrated ability to provide ongoing mentorship in entrepreneurship to youths and provide support to entrepreneurship program in the different agricultural value chains for the project
    • Have experience in organizing and coordinating training programs and activities and supporting training in vocational agriculture, and liaising with numerous youth groups to demonstrate and promote Agribusiness opportunities for youth
    • Have experience in curriculum development including defining specific knowledge and practical skill sets
    • Have been previously involved in the training of trainers in Agriculture or related field
    • Exhibit good network and partnership skills with local training sites and training providers as well as coordinate their efforts
    • Have ability to communicate in one or more of northern Nigeria’s major languages is an advantage
