    Nurse Activity Manager

    MAIN ACTIVITIES

    Define, organize, implement and follow-up all care and nursing related activities in the project, ensuring the daily management of the human resources as well as the implementation of the ALIMA nursing protocols, in order to warrant efficiency, quality and continuity of prescribed care.

    Core task

    • Plan and organize all nursing related activities (IPD, OPD, maternity, nutrition, etc.), its organization design and sizing and participates in the definition and update of its associated budget in order to efficiently maintain the continuity of the healthcare at the standard quality levels.
    • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of the legal therapeutic protocols, procedures and standards, providing technical support when needed, to ensure the quality of the nursing care, confidentiality and information traceability, patient surveillance, as well as ensuring that therapeutic and sterilization rules are used by the health care personnel.
    • Ensures all administrative procedures and documents (individual patient’s card and registration book, discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) are used correctly, as well as the existing data management tools.
    • In cooperation with the pharmacy supervisor and project medical referent, supervise the management and running of the medical equipment and pharmacy activity, preparing new orders when required, supervising expiration terms and consumption patterns, in order to ensure its rational use as well as that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and above minimum safety point.
    • May be in close coordination with the HR department, plan and supervise the associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, development and communication) of the nursing staff of the project in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required, improve people capabilities
    • May be responsible for scheduling duty rosters, shifts and on call of nursing staff.
    • In accordance with medical prescriptions and according to protocols in force, supervise the distribution of drugs and equipment as well as train nursing staff to ensure a rationale use of both.
    • Be responsible for the surveillance of patients in wards and train nursing staff on Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE), i.e. keeping contact with all patients, informing them regularly about their health state and responding to their questions.
    • In close coordination with the logistics Manager, supervise laboratory outputs related to nursing activities (blood test) to ensure samples are collected correctly and results are provided on time.
    • Supervise nutritional activities to ensure that therapeutic food is provided regularly and complies with quality and quantity standards.
    • Supervise implementation of protocols depending on project objectives (Prevention Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT), Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)) and social services (Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT).
    • In addition to the lead component of the project, ALIMA runs an inpatient center with 100 ITFC bed. The main morbidities being Severe Acute Malnutrition (+ SAM associated with medical complications), Malaria, pneumonia, Acute watery diarrhea and vaccine preventable diseases like Measles. Ensuring high quality care with limited resources is a constant challenge.
    • The NAM will be responsible for the management of the ITFC alongside a national nursing team supervisor (including nurses and nutritional assistants) and support the Milk Kitchen & caregivers’ food
    • For the holistic approach of malnutrition, the ITFC NAM will work closely and collaborate with NAM Outreach, and MAM.
    • Another key role is to mentor the nursing supervisors to enable them to function with minimal supervision/support. Their tasks include planning, supervision, associated HR, and administrative processes (training/induction, staff evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under their responsibility ensuring both the required sizing and the amount of knowledge.
    • Training/Coaching of the nursing team to ensure quality of care in the inpatient wards is vital and planned as a team approach with activities of ITFC and IPD complementing each other.
    • More focus on people management, Staff capacity building and strengthening the collaboration with MoH.
    • Implementation of ALIMA protocols such as for Nursing care, nutrition, infection prevention and control, AMR amongst others will be a key focus of this position.
    • In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating and communicating future needs.
    • Nursing Care, Data Collection & Reporting, Stock Management:
    • Implement all ALIMA protocols, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that guide the day-to-day nursing activities in ITFC, IPD and Isolation.
    • Ensure there is provision of quality of care to the Patients (reception, admissions/triage, patient care, consultation, individual/group health education, mental health/psycho stimulation, drug provision/dispensation, blood transfusion, etc ) as well as food for patients and caretakers are timely administered, to avoid delays
    • Collaborate with MoH to ensure provision of vaccination for routine immunization to all children in ITFC
    • Implement all data collection, paper work in collaboration with the Epi- Department
    • In collaboration with MAM, Pharmacy and IPC supervisors ensure rational use of drugs and strict adherence to protocols
    • Analyze consumption pattern and link them with morbidities, gives feedback to the team
    • Fully support Watsan and IPC supervisor ensures IPC measures are fully implemented in all departments as per IPC protocol.
    • Perform any other related task assigned by the supervisor
    • Education, Work Related Experiences & Skills

    Education:

    • Essential nursing diploma for general or specialized health services; specialization in nutrition or sexual and reproductive health would be an asset.

    Experience:

    • Essential working experience of at least 5 years in nursing activities specialized either in nutrition/health or sexual reproductive health.
    • Essential working experience in related jobs in ALIMA or other NGOs in developing countries.

    Skills:

    • Advanced knowledge in medical management
    • Essential computer literacy (Excel, Word, google drive, Outlook and Internet)
    • Training skills
    • Well, organized with good negotiation and communication skill
    • Ability to work as part of a team, a part of multicultural and multi-disciplinary team, in emergency and under pressure, to manage stress easily and result oriented
    • Ability to work in close collaboration with MOH staff
    • Can work and create teamwork, flexible, and committed to the assigned position

    MHPSS Psychologists

    MAIN ACTIVITIES

     Provide specialized services and individual psychological support for people(caregivers) with moderate to severe mental and/or emotional disorders in the different areas of intervention. Provide technical support to Health staff to implement sound psychosocial support (PSS) activities for children and adults. The MHPSS-Psychologist is responsible for providing psychotherapy services to beneficiaries in need of MHPSS services to ensure quality of mental health and psycho-social services (MHPSS) in the fields.

    Core task

    • Assist cases with identified mental or emotional disorders referred internally or externally
    • Conduct case-by-case needs assessments for the diagnosis of psychological disorders and identification of treatment and therapy
    • Carry out evaluation of mental health needs of patients/beneficiaries and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment following WHO MHGAP approach and ALIMA case management protocols. Referring cases to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
    • Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to beneficiaries in need according to ALIMA, MHGAP and other standards protocols in order to improve their psycho-social and mental health conditions
    • Document progress on cases, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected
    • Assisting and training staff members (Nutrition, SRH, GBV and health) and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MHPSS activities. Facilitate trainings for internal staffs and communities on psychosocial first aid (PFA) ETC.
    • Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities standard protocols and procedures set in order to provide the most appropriate management.
    • Provide coaching and support to the field staff in the implementation of structured MHPSS activities
    • Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
    • Pro-actively participate in relevant meetings, as requested.
    • Compile monthly reports and prepare work Plans.
    • Education, Work Related Experiences & Skills

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, mental health, psychology or related fields.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in community based psychosocial support interventions particularly as it relates to social norms change.
    • Experience with medical international NGO, an asset
    • Experience in a similar position for at least 2 years.
    • Demonstrated experience on counselling skills
    • Track record of developing technical curriculum and materials for delivery of MHPSS programming/activities in low resource setting
    • Team management and supervision skills
    • Perfect knowledge of MS Office package, especially Excel & Word

    Base Logistician

    MAIN ACTIVITIES

    Supervise the daily logistics activities and provide maintenance to the ALIMA equipment, facilities and infrastructures, according to ALIMA protocols in order to maintain the facilities in perfect conditions and collaborate in the development of the mission.

    Core task

    Base & facilities Management

    • Evaluating rehabilitation needs and following up minor building rehabilitation work in accordance with instructions given by his supervisor, and accounting to him/her on progress.
    • Monitor maintenance activities of infrastructures and write reports
    • Ensure the check and follow-up of facilities under the line manager supervision.
    • Carrying out daily visits to the facilities, reporting any anomalies or problems to the line manager.
    • Supervise the daily logistics activities and provide maintenance to the ALIMA equipment’s, facilities and infrastructures, according to ALIMA protocols in order to maintain the facilities in perfect conditions and collaborate in the development of the mission.
    • Make sure that the compound & office facilities are clean & neat at all times, allocate specific duties and communicate effectively to the relevant staff.
    • Ensure that all gardening & watering is made regularly to the guest house & offices including pruning tasks at all times.

    Assets Management

    • Management of non-medical stocks and equipment according to ALIMA standards, have stock management cards and track consumption rates, manage the wastage rates.
    • Ensure that All fixed Assets & equipment are codded, labeled & tagged in visible terms as per ALIMA’S standard Codding system & are tagged accordingly
    • Update the fixed Assets register on a regular basis and track movement of Assets as per standards.
    • Follow up on Asset & Equipment status for maintenance & disposal purposes based on ALIMA’S standards & Donor requirements
    • Ware house/store & Stock Management

    Manage and follow up orders

    • Responsible for Reception of goods from National & International orders.  
    • Responsible for checking of the quantity and quality of goods received.
    • Use Goods Receiving Note/Goods reception when receiving goods.
    • Inform the line managers of any problems (missing or damaged goods, etc.) make a formal written report or verbal.
    • Update stock cards and/or create stock cards for all stock items and update the stock tracking sheet.
    • Ensures that all stock movements are recorded according to ALIMA purchase and supply procedures.
    • Set up and maintain a proper organization of the storage area according to family, storage procedures, and that all correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.).
    • Keep a special control of “sensitive” goods numbers of lots, expiry dates, and packaging and special storage conditions.
    • In conjunction with the supervisor, perform physical stock counts in accordance with the frequency previously defined.
    • Prepare the biweekly & monthly mission stock reports, and share with the logistics manager, both written and verbal reports.
    • Prioritize sending of goods according to field needs and order delivery limits
    • Prepares stock requests on time before sending goods, ensuring good quality of packing material.
    • Ensure correct documentation of sent good (stock cards, way bills, packing lists, logistics.
    • Keep areas of storerooms and warehouses clean and tidy at all times.
    • Assist in loading and off-loading of vehicles when receiving or sending goods.

    Safety & security Management

    • Checking that premises observe safety and security norms (fire extinguishers present, electrical installations earthed, etc.) and take the necessary actions when improvements are needed.
    • Ensure surveillance and guarding activities in all ALIMA facilities and premises are correctly implemented.
    • Interact with the locals and ALIMA security contact personnel, in the state, update the PC on the security details and during the Monday security briefs.

    Fleet & Transport Management

    • Carrying out or supervising all maintenance logistics activities in the guest house & offices (vehicles, fuel consumption, and local infrastructure) according to ALIMA standards and protocols in order to have the material, infrastructure and vehicles in optimal running conditions
    • Planning and tracking of the movements
    • Supervise, motivate and train all drivers to ensure the adherence of all ALIMA’s driving rules and regulations
    • Proper treatment of their vehicles and damage prevention
    • Manage vehicles & generators Log sheet & fuel consumption, share your weekly report with the Log Manager.
    • Motor & vehicles maintenance, service tracking, liaise with the vendor.
    • Movement plan, although currently ensure vehicles have adequate fuel and in good shape throughout the week ready for traveling.
    • Drivers shift and Scheduling, update the roster and let us know the drivers on duty.

    Communication and IT

    • Responsible for the correct functioning of the communication systems: correct installation and maintenance of server
    • Ensures the monthly backup and maintenance of project computers including virus definition updates with in communication of ICT supervisor.

    Filling documentation & Reporting

    • Report any incidents to supervisor (accidents, loss or damage of goods/equipment etc).
    • Immediately inform the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse
    • Reports monthly on potential ruptures and any items that will expire, share the written

    Maintenance and construction

    • Ensure the check and follow-up of facilities (office compound, Guest house residences ...) under the line manager supervision.
    • Carrying out regular visits to the office & GH facilities, reporting any anomalies or problems to the line manager.
    • Evaluating rehabilitation needs and following up minor building rehabilitation work in accordance with instructions given by his supervisor, and accounting to him/her on progress
    • Check and maintain the waste management

    Peoples Management.

    • Manage the guards, drivers ALIMA & Outsourced drivers (ALIMA & outsourced) and daily workers recruited in your area of operations.
    • Have a duty roster for the staff, track their leave days, have a JD for them and subsequent meetings to ensure no gaps in the areas of operations.
    • Implementation of prevention measures against abuse of power, gender-based and sexual violence:
    • Ensures that your team, partners and community members are aware of ALIMA's policy and have access to information (complaint escalation mechanism, focal point...).
    • Facilitates the organization of training and awareness sessions
    • Implements standards related to the prevention of abuse of power, gender-based violence and sexual violence.
    • Contributes to creating and maintaining a nurturing and protective environment for your team, community members and project partners.

    Education, Work Related Experiences & Skills

    Education:

    • Essential secondary education and technical diploma or technical university degree.

    Experience:

    • Essential at least 2- 3 years of working experience in logistics related activities. Desirable previous experience with ALIMA or other INGOs,

    Skills:

    • Computer literacy and ICT equipment user-knowledge

    Languages:

    • English compulsory. Others are an asset like Hausa, Kanuri
    • Contract term: contract under Nigerian law, 6 months renewable.
