    Milk Collection Truck Driver

    Job Summary:

    The milk collection truck driver will work under the supervision of the milk collection center manager and oversee the movement of fresh milk from identified communities to the milk collection centers and from the milk collection centers to Danone Fan Milk’s processing facility and comply with health and safety standards. S/he will ensure that the milk collection truck is in excellent condition and performs optimally at all times.

    Program/Practice/Department Overview:

    TechnoServe’s Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) aims to build a precision, sustainable, and productive local dairy value chain in Nigeria within 4 years in a way that increases the incomes, resilience, and carbon footprint of dairy farmers in Nigeria.

    Primary Functions & Responsibilities

    • Strict adherence to the weekly schedule of fresh milk collection from project communities and milk collection centers, and deliver promptly to Danone’s processing facilities.
    • Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items and meeting official personnel and visitors at various locations.
    • Interpret travel policy and procedures, Staff Rules, administrative circulars, financial regulations, and rules on travel-related matters.
    • Maintain and contribute to policy information on fleet management.
    • Work within cost-saving methods through proper use of vehicle, accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, and provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
    • Proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
    • Logs fuel consumption, maintenance, etc.
    • Work toward availability of required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts. Maintain updated records at all times.
    • With good knowledge of defensive driving, apply rules and regulations, and internal and external policies.
    • Be cordial and respectful to clients, visitors, and colleagues.
    • Tactfully and effectively deal with officials and visitors using high emotional intelligence.
    • Ensures steps required by rules, regulations, and best practices are adhered to in case of an accident.
    • Applies good judgment in the context of assignments given.
    • Consistent compliance with the policy in all conduct of activities.
    • Provide basic security management support in applying innovative techniques to assess and mitigate risk, especially within the location of work.
    • Provide other project-related support assistance as may be assigned Supervisor.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum relevant qualification from a secondary academic institution, National diploma, or Higher National Diploma in any Art or social science field.
    • Valid Driver’s license- Class E or G.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of driving within Ogun, Osun, and Oyo States.

    Preferred Qualification:

    • At least 3 years’ experience in familiarity with driving trucks.

    Milk Collection Center (MCC) Quality Specialist

    Job Summary:

    The Milk Collection Quality Specialist will work under the Milk Collection Center Manager's supervision and ensure high-quality fresh milk is received from the dairy farmers and supplied to the processor.  S/he will be responsible for the quality targets of the center and will ensure that all processes are compliant with HACCP principles and guidelines.

    Program/Practice/Department Overview:

    TechnoServe’s Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) aims to build a precision, sustainable, and productive local dairy value chain in Nigeria within 4 years in a way that increases the incomes, resilience, and carbon footprint of dairy farmers in Nigeria.

    Primary Functions & Responsibilities

    • Ensure that the milk received from the Mini-farms and smallholder dairy farmers meets specified milk quality standards for Danone Fan Milk processing for products such as Milk, Yoghurt, and Ice Cream.
    • Monitor, document, and report compliance with GMP, SSOP, and HACCP on the milk reception floor.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all quality control processes and procedures are followed at all times in receiving milk into the milk bulk tanks and releasing same for the production of good quality products by Danone Fan Milk
    • appropriate optimum Cleaning In Place (CIP) procedures for equipment and lines in terms of temperature, time, flow, etc.
    • Ensure that the milk collection center environment in the building is maintained, hygienic, and safe for milk processing.
    • Carry out routine quality control checks and analyses on all milk supplied to confirm conformity with set standards.
    • Maintain all work surfaces, equipment, trolleys, trays, test tubes, pipettes, etc. clean before and after receiving or releasing fresh milk.
    • Monitor the efficiency of fridges, chillers, bulk milk tanks, etc. ensuring that they’re kept clean at all times and working optimally.
    • Responsible for monitoring storage conditions of milk samples in the fridges, cold rooms, etc., and ensuring conformity with all standards and procedures.
    • Monitor the loading of good quality fresh milk into delivery vehicles.
    • Ensure that all staff within the milk collection center adhere to all codes of Personal hygiene.
    • Carry out any other duty that the milk collection center manager may assign within the scope of work.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Food science and Technology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a food processing environment.
    • Alternatively, at least 1 year experience with a Master’s degree.
    • Experience in maintaining food safety management systems, operating quality and food safety manuals, and relevant procedures.
    • Experience engaging regulatory inspectors, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
    • Experience in laboratory inventory management.

    Required Languages: Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Fluency in English is strongly preferred as well as proficiency in either Yoruba or/and Hausa language.

    Travel: 5%

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • HAACP certification is desirable
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills
    • Proven skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to implement and monitor all quality and food safety programs including HACCP, Good Laboratory Practices, Cleaning and Sanitation, Environmental Sampling, and Pest Control.
    • Ability to train dairy farmers, other milk vendors, handlers, and relevant team members on milk quality standards.
    • Proven ability to provide accurate reports and test results to appropriate team members promptly and advise on corrective actions or adjustments where required.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance initiatives to ensure that all suppliers of fresh milk meet the organization’s specifications in a consistent manner.

    Milk Collection Center (MCC) Specialist

    Job Summary:

    The Milk Collection Specialist - Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) will work under the supervision of the Milk Collection Center Manager to drive the efficiency and quality of milk collection and processing in the center.     Primary Functions & Responsibilities

    • Oversee all equipment and infrastructure (solar panel borehole, solar water heater, milk reception tanks, and others) and ensure they function optimally, and schedule timely and routine preventive maintenance where applicable.
    • Facilitate and monitor the transportation of fresh milk supplied by the dairy farmers and mini farms to Danone Fan Milk’s plant according to standard operating procedures and compliance.
    • Work with the MCC quality specialist to properly analyze fresh milk supplied by the dairy farmers daily.
    • Document and update the quality and quantity of fresh milk received from the dairy farmers and mini-farms, and supplied to Danone Fan Milk’s plant weekly.
    • Ensure timely preparation of monthly reports according to prescribed guidelines and format and share with the MCC manager.
    • Prepare and share with the accounts payable team a weekly schedule of payments to the dairy farmers for fresh milk supply.
    • Support the dairy productivity, and feed and fodder teams of the BuPreDMiN project by providing continuous feedback on the quality of milk supply and interactions with the dairy farmers.
    • Manage the relationship between the MCC and all the milk suppliers in a way that not only attracts more suppliers to the centers but ensures retention of these suppliers.
    • Carry out monthly town hall meetings with stakeholders.
    • Carry out any other duty that the MCC manager may assign.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economic, Business administration or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a dairy milk collection center or a food or FMCG retail outlet.
    • Alternatively, a master’s degree with at least 1 year experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in financial and inventory management
    • Experience in working in rural communities in Nigeria.
    • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate data to a non-technical audience
    • Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders.

    Required Languages: Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

    Travel: 10%
