    Technical Superintendent – Mechanical

    Job Summary

    The primary responsibility of the Technical Superintendent is to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of vessels under their supervision. To oversee the technical aspects of vessel maintenance, repair, and performance, inspections and docking, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Technical Superintendent will work closely with shipyards, contractors, and internal stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and supervise dry docking projects. 

    Vessel Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Develop and implement planned maintenance programs for vessels to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
    • Coordinate and supervise all maintenance and repair activities, including dry-docking, engine overhauls, and equipment replacements.
    • Monitor vessel performance and address any technical issues or deficiencies promptly.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with classification society and flag state requirements.

    Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Prepare and manage the technical department’s budget, ensuring effective utilization of resources and cost control.
    • Review and approve purchase requisitions for spare parts, equipment, and services, adhering to the allocated budget.
    • Evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts to obtain competitive pricing and high-quality products or services.

    Regulatory Compliance:

    • Stay updated with relevant maritime regulations, industry guidelines, and class society requirements.
    • Ensure vessels under supervision meet all statutory and regulatory compliance standards.
    • Collaborate with the safety and quality departments to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safety and environmental stewardship.

    Crew Training and Performance:

    • Provide technical guidance and support to the vessel’s crew and ensure they receive appropriate training on equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Monitor and evaluate crew performance, identifying training needs and implementing corrective actions as required.
    • Promote a safety-conscious culture among the crew and encourage adherence to company policies and industry best practices.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of vessel maintenance, repairs, and equipment inventory.
    • Prepare technical reports, including dry-dock specifications, repair progress reports, and performance evaluations.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including classification societies, flag states, and port authorities, to address technical documentation and certification requirements.

    Emergency Response:

    • Provide technical support and guidance during vessel emergencies, such as incidents, accidents, or machinery failures.
    • Participate in incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures to mitigate future risks.

    Vendor Management:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure prompt and reliable support for technical requirements.
    • Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and monitor service level agreements to ensure optimal service delivery

    Vessel Dry Docking 

    • Develop comprehensive dry-docking plans in collaboration with shipyards, considering vessel-specific requirements, maintenance history, and regulatory compliance.
    • Prepare the scope of work, including required repairs, equipment replacements, and inspections during dry docking.
    • Identify and procure necessary materials, spare parts, and specialized services for the dry docking project.
    • Ensure all necessary permits, documentation, and certifications are obtained prior to the dry docking.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Experience and knowledge of a wide range of Platform or offshore supply vessels, Dynamic positioning systems, logistic vessels, and Fast crew boats
    • Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent, preferably. Also goo to have some experience in dry docking projects.
    • Minimum of 5 years sea going experience as Chief Engineer
    • HND/1st Degree in Marine/Mechanical Engineering. Master’s degree is highly desired.
    • Class 1 Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (STCW95)
    • DP Maintenance Certificate

    Job Purpose

    • The Group BD & Corporate Affairs Manager is a creative and innovative partner responsible for creating and executing competitive business strategies, leveraging systemic understanding of regulatory and clients operations, structures and relations to identify early stage opportunities.

    Fleet Manager (Head of Operations)

    Job Summary

    Responsible for the overall supervision and technical operations of vessels under management. This includes overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the vessels, ensuring that they are adequately manned and operated safely in compliance with all industry, statutory, classification and environmental regulations and standards, that allows them to fulfil operational requirements of the company, charter parties and/or other commercial contracts

    Strategic

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of LATCM’s business strategies, objectives and tactical action plans.
    • Ensure strong alignment between business priorities and service priorities and facilitate the communication of those priorities to all offshore personnel.

    Technical and Operational

    • Monitor, manage and report the day-to-day technical operations and performance of the fleet to ensure that applicable requirements for safety, quality, energy efficiency, and environmental objectives are met.
    • Acts as the first point-of-contact and interface on all technical vessel matters.
    • Provide input in the preparation of the annual vessel operating budgets prior to sending to the client, monitor the development of actual costs throughout the year, and determine means of improving efficiency and reducing cost where possible.
    • Manages critical vessel equipment/spares optimally.
    • Instigate, drive and take ultimate responsibility for continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that the internal process within the organization meets business and client needs.
    • Ensure that all marine operations are conducted at the highest standards considering the safety of crew and protection of the environment.
    • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of the marine fleet operational policy – masters standing orders, standard operating procedures, and safe working procedures.
    • Develop and implement a Planned Maintenance System in line with the marine fleet operational policy.
    • Identifies potential causes of defects, investigates and analyses reported defects, taking corrective and preventive actions in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer.
    • Initiate and monitor all major maintenance and repair work on all vessels in order to maintain proper operational status and to enforce zero downtime.
    • Attends to and supervises the vessels and crew for timely port turnaround and shipyard repair activities.
    • Oversee the vessel performance, maintenance and repair programmes, dry-dockings, deficiencies, and class and flag surveys to ensure that these are completed within the required time and with minimal disruption to vessel operating schedule.
    • Ensures critical parts needed for the dry-dock are in the Company Warehouse or with the dry-dock vendor prior to commencement of the dry-docking exercise.
    • Prepare reports on vessel readiness for external inspections, and items arising from inspections to ensure problems are resolved.
    • Ensure quick and accurate reporting of any problems occurring on the Vessels.

    Charter Technical Audits and Statutory compliance

    • Supervises all technical Charter audits and investigations on defects/failures on a regular scheduled basis to ensure conformance.
    • Oversee the documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints due to technical failures received or investigation outcomes (draft incident reports and root cause analysis in collaboration with HSE Supervisor).
    • Plan, control and execute all activities connected to class survey and certificate requirements, build and maintain effective liaison with relevant authorities.
    • Ensures that all vessels comply with class society.
    • Ensure full compliance with Port State control.
    • Handle warranty claims for vessels where applicable.
    • Keep abreast of industry developments, regulations and innovations that may affect quality of service, safety and welfare of personnel or protection of the environment and inform colleagues accordingly.

    Procurement

    • Identify the key procurement priorities and liaise with the Chief Executive Officer and Procurement to ensure that resources are assigned accordingly.
    • Ensure that all spares and supplies required for the optimal performance and efficiency of all Vessels under management are available.
    • Ensure that spares and consumables usage is kept under control following best practices without affecting the efficiency of the operations or the quality of the maintenance.

    Business Support

    • Provide technical expertise to the Chief Executive Officer and Commercial Manager in the preparation of Bids, Tenders and Proposals.
    • Accompany the Chief Executive Officer or Commercial Manager for prospective client presentations when required.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • HND or a Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical or Structural Engineering. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
    • Minimum of Unlimited Certificate of Competency in Marine Engineering (1st Class or 2nd Class)
    • Minimum of 15 years seagoing experience with hands-on operations covering major key result areas and critical success factors.

    Chief Executive Officer

    Purpose of the role:

    • The role is responsible for providing strategic direction for business management, strategy development/ execution, commercial, vessel operations, project management, finance, and service delivery capabilities to properly position the organization for future planning and expansion drive.
    • He/she drives the strategic business initiatives to achieve corporate objectives with an extreme focus on the financial, customer, internal processes, and organization capacity in accordance with the strategic direction and rolling plan.

    • Leads execution of plans, policies, strategies, procedures, functions, and programs support to vessels (DSP/FSIV/Gangway) operations with emphasis on systems that address safety and statutory as well as regulatory compliance.
    • Lead contract deployment and implementation whilst ensuring compliance with specific contractual administration requirements to deliver operational excellence – maximum operational efficiency of the contracted vessel (uptime and utilization)
    • Lead the discussion on vessel modifications as required by contracts and any technical developments that will enhance the overall operational efficiency including relevant audits and following up on the observations close-out.
    • Lead discussion with strategic partners and ensure that significant maintenance/ dry dock periods are properly planned, controlled, and executed with minimal or no disruption to contract performance.
    • Make sure that the vessels follow all guidelines for operations with statutory and regulatory agencies and all other recommendations including relevant audits and following up on the observations close-out.
