    Project Coordinator

    General Description of Role

    • The Project Coordinator will be supporting from Yola office, overseeing Technical consultants and Project officers so as to ensure that all projects are delivered within an efficient operational framework and identify and recommend specific courses of action that facilitate projects to deliver on their intended goals and outcome. 
    • This position is a project based full-time. 
    • The Project Coordinator will also assist in attending strategic meetings and documenting expected outcomes and is expected to support the project team to implement access to education program activities in Adamawa state.

    Key Responsibilities
    The position will have the following responsibilities:

    • Ensure timely and effective implementation of the project’s objectives and oversight of project-related activities under the CATAI-led component of the joint project.
    • Deliver results in accordance with the project’s document, project implementation plan and work plans of other partners, communication plan, and result log-frame.
    • Ensures timely preparation of project work plans, procurement, and communications plans as well as other related documents for the timely commencement of the project activities. Develops a detailed implementation plan, and oversees its progress for the CATAI-led component.
    • Plan, coordinate and supervise the work of all project staff including preparation of the required terms of reference for consultants, national experts, and subcontractors recruited under the project, forward planning of Project activities and budget expenditures, activity scheduling, and reporting.
    • Prepares comprehensive, outcome and output-oriented, evidence-based inputs to progress reports under CATAI-led activities of joint funder-based projects based on the requirements of the funder and other related organizations, as well as ad-hoc technical reports, when required.
    • Perform other tasks as requested by the CATAI management.
    • Work in close coordination with joint project partners, other CATAI projects, and national, ensuring optimum participation of all relevant stakeholders in planned project activities;
    • Develop a professional platform for networking and partnership building with local authorities of the target regions, CSOs, youth centers and organizations, and other international development organizations or programs working in the area of education.
    • Ensure visibility of CATAI and joint projects through public relations, advocacy, working with the mass media, and other communications activities.
    • Knowledge-building and knowledge-sharing.
    • Promotes project knowledge products, identification, and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned for organizational sharing, learning, and planning future strategies;
    • Provides support to effective advocacy of project activities.
    • Promotes a knowledge-sharing and learning culture in the educational program and community outreach.

    Required Educational Qualification, Experiences, Technical Skills, and Language Competence

    • Master's or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Social Sciences
    • 2 – 3 Years of similar experiences
    • Ability to work independently and work with a team;
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills
    • Strong facilitation skills, and familiarity with training-of-trainer (ToT) approaches and methodologies.
    • Demonstrate competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Very good presentation and writing skills.
    • Very good interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Fluency in the English Language both written and spoken is required, Fulfulde and Hausa language is an added advantage

    Community Engagement Officer

    General Description of Role

    • Reporting to the project coordinator, you will work closely with the CATAI programs team communications and policy teams to lead community mobilization and engagement, particularly with people with lived experience of poverty and disadvantage with respect to education barriers.
    • The core purpose of your role is to support community empowerment and participation in creating awareness in breaking barriers of access to education for the girl child, budget monitoring and advocacy group public advocacy and change work, including the current Raise on the rate for good governance.

    Responsibilities
    Your responsibilities will also include:

    • Liaises and interacts regularly with children and youth, parents, teachers and the community in order to promote understanding and acceptance of CATAI Education activities.
    • Promotes awareness on Education issues within the community and disseminates means to raise concerns and feedback.
    • Supervises teachers and coordinates volunteer teachers in order to ensure effective, safe, stimulating and quality implementation of formal and non-formal educational activities.
    • Monitors and coach’s incentive teachers on the job, and takes care of building a respectful and non-stressful environment for children and the community.
    • Prepare activity schedule and monitor compliance, under the line manager supervision.
    • S/he is supporting rehabilitation and distribution to schools’ activities, by analyzing needs, proposing tailored intervention, leading assessment and surveys.
    • In collaboration with, and under supervision of the program Manager, proposes education and outreach activities and planning, according to expressed needs by educational staff, including headmasters, teachers, and Departments of Education (DoE), as well as children’s wishes and needs.
    • S/he ensures punctual implementation and follow up of data collection, s/he is in charge of ensuring proficient utilization of education databases and ensures volunteers.
    • S/he in identifying capacity building needs among educational staff, the community, and other professionals relating to child protection and positive discipline in schools; including the identification of possible training participants and/or focal points.

    Requirements / Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, International Affairs, or a related field required.
    • Two (2) years of professional humanitarian/development experience is required; experience with community-based projects is highly desired.
    • Extensive knowledge of community engagement and participatory processes of proven practical community engagement experience (managing integrated activities at once), including strong skills and experience in the community engagement process, report writing, participatory planning, and community entry.
    • Knowledge of urban and rural resilience concepts is advantageous.
    • Excellent presentation and writing skills.
    • Capable of resolving complex problems through a collaborative and consultative approach.
    • Prior experience working with government actors and/or community leaders.
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, as well as the capacity to effectively represent CATAI in forums and with donors.
    • Effective negotiation skills are necessary, and experience in dispute resolution is preferred.
    • The capacity to communicate concepts and ideas to other members of the community in a clear and convincing manner.

    Languages:

    • Fluency in spoken and written English is required, and other local language is an added advantage.

    Computer / Other Tech Requirements:

    • Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
