    Assistant Bookstore Manager

    Responsibilities

    • Attend to walk-in customers and ease them through their shopping experience.
    • Oversee day to day operations of the store; monitor cash flow, inventory, and security controls.
    • Monitor daily and weekly sales; analyze reports to ensure monthly sales budget is achieved; maximize sales and profits, while minimizing controllable expenses
    • Curate books and other literary merchandise for readers; oversee in-store events: book signing, book club meetings and maintain a commitment to a strong presence of the brand in the Island axis
    • Conduct studies and research to discover new techniques necessary for improving customer experience, train the team and implement best practices to engage walk-in customers.
    • Develop metrics to measure customer satisfaction and collect same, embed into the performance management of team members, provide feedback and report performance to the leadership team.
    • Provide market feedback to the leadership team regarding competitive offerings based on insights gleaned from interacting with walk-in customers.
    • Generating product development ideas to boost in-store sales and support development and marketing of in-store literary events.

    Qualifications

    • Avid reader/deep passion for books
    • 2-3years experience
    • Proximity to Victoria Island, Lagos
    • Knowledge of bookstore retail operating principles, cashiering, budgeting, management principles, and inventory
    • Should possess strong multi-tasking skills, excellent oral communication skills and the ability to perform consistently, even under pressure.
