    Gender and Community Relations Advisor

    • The Gender and Community Relations Advisor will be responsible for implementing RMNCAH+N G-ANC’s project gender strategy as well as work with other staff of the project to ensure that Project provides comprehensive sex and age-appropriate clinical post-GBV care that meets expressed needs of survivors including GBV primary prevention, male engagement, and respectful care activities where necessary across all target locations.
    • The Gender and Community Relations Advisor will lead G-ANC gender work at health facilities with linkages to community gender and GBV activities and work closely with other members of the Project HOPE gender team to implement Project HOPE-Nigeria’s gender inclusive strategy and in other gender /GBV related programs.
    • The Gender and Community Relations Advisor will be responsible to oversee the integration of GSI activities into the evaluation protocol, work plan as well as M&E plan and adjust activities to be responsive to GSI issues identified during the evaluation process. Also review and provide technical feedback on interview contents, evaluation results and reports to ensure quality and full compliance with donor GSI policies. 

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBIITES:

    • Provide technical assistance and strategic guidance in planning and implementing donor priorities for gender equality, gender mainstreaming, gender integration, social inclusion, and GBV strategies on the RMNCAH+N program.
    • Guide gender / GBV reporting processes, consolidate program reports and promote learning and knowledge sharing of best practices and lessons learned in gender programming.
    • Work with MEL teams to analyse and report on indicators measuring the outcomes and impact of interventions looking at gender dynamics and gender- based violence in RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) for improved intervention quality.
    • Support improved quality of gender / GBV clinical and referral services implementation, and system strengthening based on evidence- based and international best practices across implementing states and programs.
    • Work with RMNCAH+N(GANC) project teams to strengthen gender / GBV components of training, job aids, gender indicators, data collection tools and reporting tools at all levels.
    • Conduct periodic reviews and strengthening of program gender / GBV systems.
    • Serve alongside other Gender team members as a primary GBV Point of Contact (POC) and a technical thought leader on bringing evidence-based and best practices to GBV prevention, identification, and response programming to RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) project.
    • Review the RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) portfolio and identify opportunities for the integration of GBV, working closely with the GBV team members on GBV integration activities.
    • Provide GBV technical review of and assistance with inputs on key technical and non-technical documents, such as gender Mapping / analyses design, implementation plans.
    • Support the RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) technical team on GBV-related inputs into the annual work plan.
    • Work with Gender / GBV POC to support implementation, monitor progress, and ensure compliance to strategies, programs and activities are in line with RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) mandate.
    • Support and contribute to the Gender communities of practice within Project HOPE and the field.
    • Serve as a point person for GBV-related queries and reporting requirements, including coordinating responses with the sector-specific technical leads on talking points, taskers, briefings, requests for information, etc.
    • Provide technical assistance to RMNCAH+N (G-ANC) and local partners remotely.
    • Conduct Frequent Virtual interphase through collaborative software such as Teams and share-point for task setting.
    • Lead and/or collaborate with the MEL team to conduct a gender analysis at the beginning of the project, during implementation, report write up and dissemination.  

    Educational and Professional Requirements:

    • Advanced degree in development and gender studies, women studies, human rights, communication, public health, international health, international development, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in development of which 5-6 years working experience in the areas gender, women’s health, gender-based violence (GBV) and human rights defence.
    • Senior leader with 8+ year of relevant experience, with capacity development of government offices preferred.
    • Understanding of the Nigerian social and political context and developments around gender equality mainstreaming, women empowerment, and gender-based violence programming
    • Strong understanding of empowerment and gender-based violence prevention and response frameworks
    • Excellent diplomacy skills and a proven ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with government stakeholder and representatives from other key stakeholders such as NGOs, the private sector, and donors.
    • Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, organizational, supervisory, and team-building skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and proven knowledge and skills in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word processing, Excel, and PowerPoint) is mandatory
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and fluency in English language
    • Excellent group facilitation and communication skills; experience in multi-stakeholder consultation, and strategic planning
    • Strong knowledge of gender and global development issues, preferably with understanding of USAID and BMGF approach to gender equality and gender- based violence.

    • Strong writing skills, both for technical and program reports.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well in cross-cultural teams and under tight deadlines.
    • Good strategic and analytical thinking and ability to interpret public health and epidemiological data

    • Able to undertake frequent travel

    OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Project HOPE and among beneficiaries served by Project HOPE.

    • As applicable to the position, maintain a clear understanding of Project HOPE' and donor compliance and ethics standards and adhere to those standards.
