    Gender Protection Officer

    The Gender Protection Officer will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and monitoring programs that address gender-based violence and promote gender equality. This position requires a deep understanding of gender dynamics, strong advocacy skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities. The Gender Protection Officer will work closely with program teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure that gender protection is integrated into all aspects of the organization’s work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Development and Implementation:

    • Design and implement gender protection programs that address the needs of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.
    • Develop and apply gender-sensitive tools and methodologies to ensure programs are inclusive and effective.
    • Coordinate with program teams to integrate gender protection strategies into broader organizational initiatives.

    Case Management and Support:

    • Provide direct support and case management to survivors of gender-based violence, ensuring they have access to necessary services and resources.
    • Develop and maintain referral pathways to connect survivors with legal, medical, psychosocial, and other support services.
    • Monitor and document cases, ensuring confidentiality and ethical standards are maintained.

    Training and Capacity Building:

    • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff, partners, and community members on gender protection, GBV prevention, and response.
    • Build the capacity of local organizations and community groups to recognize and respond to gender-based violence.
    • Develop educational materials and resources to raise awareness about gender protection issues.

    Advocacy and Policy Engagement:

    • Advocate for gender-sensitive policies and practices within the organization and among partners.
    • Engage with local, regional, and national stakeholders to influence policies and practices that promote gender equality and protect the rights of vulnerable groups.
    • Represent the organization in meetings, forums, and networks focused on gender protection and GBV.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of gender protection programs.
    • Collect and analyze data on gender-based violence and program outcomes to inform decision-making and program improvements.
    • Prepare and submit reports to donors, management, and other stakeholders on program progress and impact.

    Collaboration and Partnership:

    • Work closely with other departments and partners to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to gender protection.
    • Foster relationships with local organizations, government agencies, and community leaders to strengthen the gender protection network.
    • Participate in coordination meetings and working groups focused on gender protection and GBV.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in gender protection, GBV prevention, or related fields, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
    • Strong knowledge of gender issues, GBV, and protection principles.
    • Experience in case management, psychosocial support, and survivor-centered approaches.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in data collection and analysis, with experience in monitoring and evaluation.
    • Fluency in [languages required] is an asset.
