Report to: Board of Directors
Supervise: GM Project, GM Commercial, AGM Asset & FM, Legal & CS, Talent & Culture, New Business & Innovation
Liaise with: Estate Services, Collections Manager, Legal, Finance, New Business and Strategic Projects, Head, Agency Business & Marketing
Objectives
Ensure delivery of business objectives across Financial, Customer, Operations and Talent by taking ownership of the entire operations value chain from strategy formulation to development and implementation.
The role function includes but is not limited to driving initiatives to achieve profitability goals as well as short medium- and long-term growth and sustainability of the business.
In addition, the COO is responsible for coaching and training team members to equip them with requisite skills and competencies to deliver and exceed targets, driving innovation and compliance to internal processes across the operations value chain to ensure pleasant customer experience.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategy
- Act as business advisor and strategist; providing relevant support to the President / Board of Directors
- Design and implement strategies to achieve revenue objectives within operational frameworks, taking into consideration changes in the business environment to deliver profitability, while optimizing human and material assets
- Lead and coordinate market penetration initiatives by prospecting for new business and leverage opportunities (and Joint Venture initiatives) to grow revenues eg. Mortgage banks, cooperatives, developers, and real estate agents etc
- Oversee the financial performance, investments, and other business ventures across all subsidiaries-
- Collaborate with BOD and other stakeholders to raise capital and carry out other business expansion strategies
- Maintain extensive knowledge of real estate trends and other factors to ensure the business is positioned to exceed client expectations across the entire service value chain
- Consult with relevant units to institute sustainable structures based on client feedback as a means of improving operational processes to increase repeat business and referrals
- Work with relevant unit heads to identify and define short- and long-term sales goals as well as coordinate implementation
- Attend industry functions, events and conferences, showcasing the business as the preferred Real Estate solutions provider
- Develop creative strategies to support funding for subscribers / off takers in a way that minimizes risks and losses to the organization
- Collaborate with the New business and strategic project teams in identifying and developing viable projects based on market trends.
- Regularly review and keep track of corporate performance vis a vis objectives for specified periods
Operations and People Management
- Cascade corporate objectives across departments to all team members and institute
- measures for daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tracking
- Provide relevant coaching and support to all team members to exceed expectations
- Review weekly report of team members, providing necessary feedback in terms of performance planning and execution
- Take ownership of the business plan and budget and ensure attainment of all revenue, expenditure and cost containment objectives
- Maintain oversight of both technical and commercial issues on day-to-day basis to ensure realization of corporate goals
- Sign off on expenditures while setting up structures to track, monitor and control business expenses based on budgetary guidelines
- Ensure effective delegation of responsibilities and supervise the work of executives; providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
- Assess efficiency of internal processes and proffer improvements to ensure customer satisfaction and strategic alignment
Leadership
- Act as Custodian of the corporate Culture by exemplifying high moral standards and a commitment to our corporate values
- Ensure shared understanding of the vision, mission, values and strategic objectives across teams by regularly conducting sessions with executives and team members
- Collaborating with HODs to translate strategy into actionable operational goals, assess effectiveness of daily operations and team performance to meet strategic objectives
- Ensure furtherance of an inclusive and diverse team positioned to deliver performance expectations
