Job Summary

• We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Head of Department - Arts to lead our Arts department in a dynamic secondary school environment.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arts education, proven leadership skills, and the ability to inspire both students and staff.
• This role involves guiding the curriculum, managing the arts faculty, and promoting a vibrant culture of creativity and artistic expression.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Arts department, including visual arts, music, theater, and any other relevant disciplines.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive curriculum that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression in students.
• Mentor and support arts faculty members in their professional development, classroom management, and instructional strategies.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration between the Arts department and other subject areas to enrich student learning experiences.
• Organize and oversee departmental events, exhibitions, performances, and competitions that showcase student talent and creativity.
• Manage the departmental budget, resource allocation, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Conduct regular assessments of student progress and program effectiveness, using data to inform curricular adjustments and improvements.
• Cultivate a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and values diversity in artistic expression.
• Stay current with educational trends in arts education and advocate for innovative practices within the department.

Qualifications

• M.Ed Degree or M.Sc. with PGDE Certificate (or in view) in Fine Arts, Arts Education, or any related field
• 2 - 5 years leadership experience in a reputable school(s) that runs both Cambridge and Nigerian Curriculum
• TRCN certificate will be an additional advantage
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students and faculty in a collaborative, creative environment.
• Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
