    Head of Site Operation - Solar Energy

    Summary of Responsibilities 

    Technical Leadership:

    • Provide strategic technical input to align business and operational strategies.
    • Ensure that standard operating and safety procedures are regularly updated for solar installations.
    • Drive efficient, cost-effective solar site operations, maintaining international standards.

    Financial and Commercial Management:

    • Pursue cost reduction strategies and synergies to minimize operational costs.
    • Collaborate with the CTO to prepare budget forecasts and monthly financial reports.

    Operations and Asset Management:

    • Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for optimal site performance.
    • Monitor and analyze KPIs to drive continuous improvement across all solar installations.
    • Ensure sufficient spare parts and inventory for maintenance activities.
    • Manage operational risks, especially fire incidents, and develop action plans for mitigation.

    Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Collaborate across functions (Operations, Sales, Procurement, Finance) to ensure smooth management of solar assets.
    • Interface with subcontractors, ensuring proper training and capability development.

    Leadership and Team Management:

    • Organize and manage site operations teams, ensuring appropriate resources and human capital are available.
    • Oversee Electrical and HVAC teams, ensuring high performance and skill development.
    • Create a high-performance culture through leadership, teamwork, and accountability.
    • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

    Performance Monitoring:

    • Implement monitoring and control systems (NOC) to ensure operational efficiency and minimize risks.
    • Manage pre-installation checks, cost planning, and quality control processes for installations.

    Expectations & Success Profile:
    Within 3 Months:

    • Review current operational and preventive maintenance procedures, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
    • Collaborate with analytics to enhance performance reports and identify KPIs for improvement.
    • Develop a preventive maintenance schedule and initiate monthly/quarterly site inspections.

    Within 6 Months:

    • Implement monitoring processes for preventive maintenance checks.
    • Streamline and document business processes for consistent execution.
    • Create a feedback system for engineers and enhance pre-installation checks and balances.

    Within 12 Months

    • Outline a process review plan and show improvement in operational KPIs.
    • Eliminate fire incidents caused by technical activities.
    • Improve customer satisfaction in operations and maintenance.

    Talent Profile

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant field.
    • Experience: 10+ years in diversified, progressive roles managing large-scale site operations (solar, Telco, TowerCo).
    • Leadership: Proven ability to lead large teams, manage over 600 sites, and execute O&M strategies with a strong commercial mindset.
    • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of hybrid power systems, solar PV systems, BESS, HVAC, and generators.
    • Skills: Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and data analysis skills.
    • Attributes: Client-focused, solution-oriented, with attention to detail and a high sense of urgency. Must be willing to travel.
    • This role demands a strategic and operational leader who can manage solar site operations efficiently, reduce costs, and drive continuous improvement across all functions.

    Salary
    N2,500,000 - N3,500,000 monthly.
