Girl Child Concerns (GCC) is seeking applications from highly qualified early career beginners for a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Internship Program. This program aims to provide an opportunity for passionate and enthusiastic individuals to work with our team on various multidisciplinary programs, including the Female Student Scholarship Scheme, Give Back Project, Legislative Education Campaign, Youth Development and Mentoring Training Project, and Community Outreach Project. The internship will last for a period of 3 months starting in July 2023, with the possibility of qualified interns being retained for longer-term positions in the M&E department.
Key Position Responsibilities:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will play a vital role in supporting the development and enhancement of our organizational performance management framework, as well as specific program M&E needs. This will ensure the quality and effectiveness of program implementation. The intern will work closely with program staff to develop performance monitoring plans and result frameworks during program design and implementation. They will also assist in creating an M&E system, processes, and tools, and contribute to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting staff members in setting up systems for program M&E
- Assisting with the design and development of forms and questionnaires for data collection and analysis
- Assisting with data collection and analysis
- Assisting with research, writing, or editing tasks
- Supporting data management, cleaning, and quality control processes
- Conducting data validation and logic checks across reporting systems
- Providing administrative support to the team
- Documenting best practices, data use cases, and stakeholder engagements at the state level
- Implementing data quality strategies and activities as advised at the state level and other hierarchies
- Adhering to all GCC policies and procedures as outlined in GCC policies and procedure manuals
- Supporting the development of case studies and success stories from program implementation
Eligibility, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, development studies)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- High level of computer literacy
- Advanced quantitative skills, including knowledge of statistical programs
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage diverse activities and meet deadlines
- Flexibility in adapting to changing situations and priorities
- Understanding of international development issues
- Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Residing in Maiduguri, Nigeria
- Graduate status
- Willingness and commitment to participate fully in the internship program
- Availability to work Mondays through Fridays
- Willingness to work in remote LGAs/communities
