    Phyto Scout Supervisor

    Job Brief

    • A Phyto Scout Supervisor for Oil Palm plantation is a professional responsible for monitoring Oil palm fields for signs of pests, diseases and other problems that could affect their growth.
    • They assess the current conditions of the palms, take samples and data for further investigation, report to hierarchy and plantation management to raise alarm and ensure control measures are applied.

    Duties

    • Plan and perform visual inspection of Oil Palm fields to assess Oil Palm health and potential risks
    • Identifying and reporting on potential pest and disease issues
    • Collecting and recording detailed crop data
    • Providing regular updates and reports to relevant stakeholders
    • Organize, monitor and supervise the application of preventive and control measures against pests and diseases as per recommended standards
    • Train his team of scouts to be able to effectively identify pests and diseases in Oil Palm fields
    • Organize and supervise his team to ensure effective and efficient scouting daily maximizing productivity of manpower

    Requirements

    • Minimum of B.Sc (2.1) or HND (Upper Credit) in Agronomy or any similar qualification
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position or plantation environment
    • Good knowledge of Oil Palm cultivation and pest management
    • Excellent observational and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weathers
    • Ability to identify pests and diseases
    • Good observational skills
    • Knowledge of plant science
    • Ability to use computer software

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently
    • Good problem solving skills
