Reservoir Geophysicist at Juvicle Energy Resources Ltd

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret 2D, 3D, and 4D seismic reflection data to identify subsurface geological features, such as faults, folds, and stratigraphic units, and to delineate reservoir boundaries and compartmentalization.
• Develop and refine velocity models using advanced techniques to accurately convert seismic time data to depth, ensuring precise positioning of geological features and reservoir targets.
• Apply and interpret seismic attributes (e.g., amplitude, coherence, curvature) to enhance the understanding of reservoir properties, such as lithology, porosity, fracture networks, and fluid content, providing insights into reservoir heterogeneity and potential sweet spots.
• Conduct Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) and Amplitude Variation with Angle (AVA) analyses to identify direct hydrocarbon indicators, estimate reservoir quality, and predict fluid types.
• Perform seismic inversion techniques (post-stack and pre-stack) to derive acoustic and elastic properties (P-impedance, S-impedance, Vp/Vs ratio) of the subsurface for quantitative reservoir characterization.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers to incorporate seismic interpretation into static (geological) and dynamic (simulation) reservoir models, supporting field development planning, well placement, and reservoir management strategies.
• Evaluate geological and geophysical risks associated with exploration and development projects and quantify uncertainties in seismic interpretation using probabilistic methods to support risk-informed decision-making processes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and cross-sections, and deliver presentations to effectively communicate seismic interpretation results, methodologies, and recommendations to diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, management, partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor junior geophysicists and participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives within the organization.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in seismic interpretation techniques, software tools (e.g., machine learning integration, cloud computing), and industry trends to continually enhance skills and contribute to the company's technical edge in reservoir seismic interpretation.

The Role Requirement

• B. Sc or M. Sc in Geophysics, Geology or related closely related field. M. Sc preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in reservoir characterization using Quantitative Seismic Interpretation (QSI) techniques and software (e.g., Petrel, Hampson Russell, Kingdom etc.)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to handle complex, data-rich problems.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex concepts
• Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams (geologists, engineers, data scientists).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a strong sense of professional ethics.
• Adaptability and willingness to embrace new methodologies and technologies.
