Job Objective:

To provide students with suitable learning activities and experiences in the subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This will enable Students acquire health and life skills through a broad range of topics in order to avoid risk of injury to self and others, at home, school, and in the public.

Responsibilities:

• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Compile, administer, evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
• Prepare and deliver lectures to students on topics such as Health and Wellness, Psychology, Nutrition, First Aid and Safety, Disease Prevention, Dealing with Accidents and Emergencies.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect the learning styles, interests and needs of students assigned.
• Conduct assessment of student progress and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Seek assistance for students who are consistently performing below grade level.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the school’s principal.
• Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of school to achieve set objectives.
• Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, and school regulations and policies for teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

Academic & professional Qualification:     

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

·         A Qualified Teacher status or recognized teaching license is preferred (TRCN)

Experience:

At least 5-6 years of teaching the subject matter in standard and structured schools.

Experience of both Nigeria/British curriculum is a MUST.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Communication Skills: You must be able to speak clearly to students, other teachers, parents and administration officials.
• Writing Skills: You will write progress reports as observed on each students etc.
• Patience: The students you work with will have different backgrounds and abilities. Patience will help you deal with students who act out or have trouble following the material.
• Creativity: you will have to find ways to involve students into their lessons. Additionally, you may have to work with different learning styles to get the most out of each student.
• Instruction Skills: You will have to explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority and in a clear and brief way so that students can understand. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; organize, communicate, and have interpersonal skills.
• People Skills: Engaging parents and creating healthy relationships with students and faculty will help create a quality learning environment.
• Knowledge of subject assigned; curriculum and instructions.
