    Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Nigerian National

    Job description

    Functional Role:

    • Required to fulfil the responsibilities of an employee as specified in ILF-NGR Health and Safety Management System Plan 
    • Responsible to coordinate, review, and execute all required Instrumentation & Control related engineering works covering the Scope of Work for all projects executed by ILF Engineers Nigeria. 
    • Responsible for information exchange between the Instrumentation & Control Team and all other Discipline Teams within the project. 
    • Follow-up of the project files and documentation, including maintaining the standard project files structure on server/ SharePoint. 
    • Responsible to implement at its level all required measures to ensure quality at source. 
    • Without direct supervision is responsible for the execution of a significant piece of design engineering work. When necessary, supervise more junior engineers within the same area of responsibility.

    Qualification

    Technical Competency Expectation:

    • Be proficient in Control System design and related development tools; knowledge of industry codes and standards. 
    • Have proven working experience in an engineering position for Control System design 
    • Be familiar with PLC architectures, computer networks, industrial Safety principles. 
    • Technical expertise in Automation Technical Areas: PLC, SCADA, Cyber Security, Network Design 
    • Experience in SCADA, DCS systems by varied vendors such as Siemens S7, ABB 800xA, HIMA etc 
    • Must be able to design and review controls based on major automation vendors e.g. Allen-Bradley Logix family of controllers, primarily ControlLogix, Foxboro Evo DCS systems, etc. 
    • Must be able to specify and design interface and communications networks between control systems including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, TCP/IP, and Profinet via Copper or Fiber Optic. 
    • Responsible for the development and review of ICSS philosophy, specifications, functional analysis, hardware design, causes & effects and safety logic diagrams, etc. 
    • Capable of performing technical analysis of ICSS tenders and vendor offers 
    • Have knowledge of alarm rationalization 
    • Experience Administering Control Systems and Cybersecurity Deployment 
    • Familiar with software development lifecycles associated with ICSS design, implementation, testing and commissioning 
    • Have experience with DCS / SCADA / PLC Upgrade / Migration technologies, sequence and I/O Configuration requirements capture and implementation of coding practices, code implementation, Testing (including virtual testing), installation and commissioning 
    • Experience scoping work, identifying key tasks, packages and developing resourcing/time estimates 
    • Experience of Project documentation and change management methodologies 
    • Capable of representing and engaging clients in own capacity showing the highest level of skill and expertise in addressing client concerns, under Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager guidance 
    • Be able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and/or site test support 
    • COREN Certification is an advantage. 
    • Experience in both onshore and offshore design is an advantage. 
    • Commissioning and start-up experience is an advantage. 
    • Construction and site supervision experience is an advantage. 

    Years of technical experience:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in Control Systems Engineering in the relevant sector.
    • Minimum 5 years successfully functioning as Control Systems Engineer in design engineering, project construction, factory and site acceptance testing and commissioning activities.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Minimum Qualification B. Sc. in relevant Engineering Discipline.
    • Certification from Control Systems Vendor would be a considerable advantage (e.g. Allen Bradley, Yokogawa, Siemens, Schneider, Emerson)
    • MSc. in Control System, Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering would be a considerable advantage
    • Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.
