    Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Nigerian National

    Job description

    Functional Role:

    • Required to fulfil the responsibilities of an employee as specified in ILF-NGR Health and Safety Management System Plan 
    • Responsible to coordinate, review, and execute all required Instrumentation & Control related engineering works covering the Scope of Work for all projects executed by ILF Engineers Nigeria. 
    • Responsible for information exchange between the Instrumentation & Control Team and all other Discipline Teams within the project. 
    • Follow-up of the project files and documentation, including maintaining the standard project files structure on server/ SharePoint. 
    • Responsible to implement at its level all required measures to ensure quality at source. 
    • Without direct supervision is responsible for the execution of a significant piece of design engineering work. When necessary, supervise more junior engineers within the same area of responsibility.

    Qualification

    Technical Competency Expectation:

    • Be proficient in Control System design and related development tools; knowledge of industry codes and standards. 
    • Have proven working experience in an engineering position for Control System design 
    • Be familiar with PLC architectures, computer networks, industrial Safety principles. 
    • Technical expertise in Automation Technical Areas: PLC, SCADA, Cyber Security, Network Design 
    • Experience in SCADA, DCS systems by varied vendors such as Siemens S7, ABB 800xA, HIMA etc 
    • Must be able to design and review controls based on major automation vendors e.g. Allen-Bradley Logix family of controllers, primarily ControlLogix, Foxboro Evo DCS systems, etc. 
    • Must be able to specify and design interface and communications networks between control systems including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, TCP/IP, and Profinet via Copper or Fiber Optic. 
    • Responsible for the development and review of ICSS philosophy, specifications, functional analysis, hardware design, causes & effects and safety logic diagrams, etc. 
    • Capable of performing technical analysis of ICSS tenders and vendor offers 
    • Have knowledge of alarm rationalization 
    • Experience Administering Control Systems and Cybersecurity Deployment 
    • Familiar with software development lifecycles associated with ICSS design, implementation, testing and commissioning 
    • Have experience with DCS / SCADA / PLC Upgrade / Migration technologies, sequence and I/O Configuration requirements capture and implementation of coding practices, code implementation, Testing (including virtual testing), installation and commissioning 
    • Experience scoping work, identifying key tasks, packages and developing resourcing/time estimates 
    • Experience of Project documentation and change management methodologies 
    • Capable of representing and engaging clients in own capacity showing the highest level of skill and expertise in addressing client concerns, under Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager guidance 
    • Be able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and/or site test support 
    • COREN Certification is an advantage. 
    • Experience in both onshore and offshore design is an advantage. 
    • Commissioning and start-up experience is an advantage. 
    • Construction and site supervision experience is an advantage. 

    Years of technical experience:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in Control Systems Engineering in the relevant sector.
    • Minimum 5 years successfully functioning as Control Systems Engineer in design engineering, project construction, factory and site acceptance testing and commissioning activities.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Minimum Qualification B. Sc. in relevant Engineering Discipline.
    • Certification from Control Systems Vendor would be a considerable advantage (e.g. Allen Bradley, Yokogawa, Siemens, Schneider, Emerson)
    • MSc. in Control System, Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering would be a considerable advantage
    • Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.

    Contracts, Claims and Complaince Manager

    Functional Role:

    • Adhering to mission statement (see PG1101), to code of conduct (PG1102), to IMS system and further company specific documents 
    • Awareness of Company’s Quality Policy. 
    • Responsible for all project contracts and commercial related matters: drafting, evaluation, negotiation, advice and supervision of compliance. 
    • Serve as the point of contact for the company on contractual matters; 
    • Serve as the point of contact for the company on all compliance and claims matters; 
    • Maintain contractual records and documentation for all contract correspondence, status report, changes, amendments and other documents for all projects. 
    • As needed, shall provide guidance on contractual and commercial matters to the management. 
    • Where involved in a project as a Contractor, shall monitor our compliance level and ensure customer satisfaction with our contracting practices. 
    • Where involved in a project shall monitor Owner’s Contractors’ compliance and adherence to contract terms and conditions and shall support Owner and ILF as required in all Contract Development and Administration activities. 
    • Shall guide the action of the Business Development team on all contractual aspects of the proposal phase. This includes drafting contract proposal as well as reviewing provided contract proposals. 
    • Develop and implement procedures for contract & claims management and administration in line with company policy. 
    • Managing claims and variations arising from or in connection with the project. 
    • Immediate notification of the project management concerning the contractual impact of any delays, and provides advice on the suitable next steps to be taken. 
    • Recognition, registration and notification to the project manager of non-contractual services (see PG2402). 
    • Set-up the team knowledgeable in contract management. This will include training of new project managers and other employees in contracting procedures. 
    • Participate in regular project management meetings. 
    • Attend relevant company-organized training courses 
    • To perform all tasks/activities relevant to the company, assigned by the Management as required.

    Qualification

    Competency Requirements:

    Deep understanding and practical experience with:

    • End to end Contract management. 
    • Supply Chain Management. 
    • Procurement.
    • Standard Construction Contract (ex. FIDIC). 
    • Risk Management.
    • Claims and Variation Administration.

    Managerial Experience: Advantageous.
    Work Experience: Minimum 12 years of relevant work experience.
    Educational Qualification: Academic Education to BS level minimum in relevant field. Master’s Degree and Advanced Certifications mandatory.
    Linguistic Skills: Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.

    Additional Competency Requirement: 

    • Understanding of project management system especially for engineering set-up. 
    • Will be responsible for Compliance Management System of the entire company.

    Commercial Project Administrator

    Functional Role

    • Adhering to mission statement to code of conduct to IMS system and further company specific documents 
    • Awareness of Company policies on quality and Health. 
    • Commercial project administrator assists project managers in commercial and administrative handling of the project. 
    • He or she shall be an accountant working within the commercial department. 
    • Managing the company’s ERP for Projects and ensuring accuracy of data within it. 
    • Responsible to transition a project code on ERP from Acquisition phase (Quote) to the execution phase (Order).
    • Ensuring all necessary project-specific master data (Clients, contracts, currency, rates, personnel) have been accurately entered into the ERP. 
    • Updating all data in the ERP in coordination with the project manager 
    • Assisting the Project managers in the commercial administration of the project. 
    • Preparing monthly commercial reports for all projects 
    • Data collection for key figures requirements 
    • Preparation of budget reports and management reviews for project audits 
    • Execution of project audit

    • Project analysis.
    • Fixing of charging method with management regarding fee agreements 
    • Preparation/administration of fee agreements

    • Analyzing the plausibility of all figures on a regular basis and initiating adaptations, where required 
    • Pro-actively analyzing reasons for deviations between actual figures and planned figures, and providing the commercial director and managing director with relevant information 
    • Providing support management for the preparation of the monthly report 
    • Providing support management for the preparation of the annual report 
    • Supporting the preparation of the annual balance and profit & loss statements 
    • Actively preparing the work-in-progress list 
    • Preparing ad-hoc reports upon the request of management or the GMB 
    • In case there are significant deviations from the planning figures with regard to liquidity and the economic result, the controller informs the managing director and the commercial director of the company, so that the corresponding counter measures can be initiated in good time. 
    • Be aware of and obey the Company Quality rules and perform the activities required by relevant procedures on these issues. 
    • Attend all the company-organized training courses when invited.

    Qualification

    Competency Requirements: 

    • Knowledge of analytics and experience using analytical/statistical packages for analyzing datasets (mandatorily Excel, optional SPSS or SAS, Power BI etc) 
    • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst 
    • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques 
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, Power Query or Power BI, etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML and/or VBA required, Javascript or ETL frameworks optional) 
    • Knowledge of accounting systems. 
    • Experience in financial administration. 
    • Ability to prioritize and attend to multiple assignments. 
    • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment; high energy and enthusiasm. 

    Work Experience

    • Minimum 12 years. 

    Educational Qualification

    • Academic Education to BS level minimum in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Project controls or other related courses.
    • Project management experience is an added advantage. Understanding of Engineering consulting is another advantage.

    Linguistic Skills: Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.

    Civil & Structural Engineer

    Functional Role for a Civil & Strutural Engineer:

    • Responsible to execute all required Civil / Structural related engineering works covering the Scope of Work for all projects executed by ILF Engineers Nigeria. 
    • Responsible for information exchange between the Civil / Structural Team and all other Discipline Teams within the project at its own level. 
    • Follow-up of the project files and documentation, including maintaining the standard project files structure on server/ SharePoint. 
    • Responsible to implement at its level all required measures to ensure quality at source. 
    • With direct supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer, will be required to carry out engineering analysis and recommend technical solutions, generate detailed engineering drawings, liaise with the drafting personnel for the preparation of drawings and prepares engineering reports. 
    • Able to perform at a basic level the functions of organizing its own work in agreement with other engineers in own discipline. 
    • Identify and report to Senior Engineer all events, requests, which are not compliant with the project scope of work. 
    • Participate in weekly engineering meetings, based on project requirements. 
    • Produce man-hour estimates for Civil and Structural potential projects to support the Business Development Department. 

    Qualification

    • Must be familiar with relevant industry codes and standards, design specifications, and practices. 
    • Ensure ease of constructability is considered in all Civil / Structural technical solutions / deliverables. 
    • Able to perform Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, and Fabrication Design. 
    • Ability to use relevant software for Civil / Structural engineering. Basic level of understanding of design calculations and result interpretation. 
    • Commissioning and start-up assistance is an advantage. 
    • COREN Certification is an advantage. 
    • Experience in both onshore and offshore design is an advantage. 
    • Construction and site supervision experience is an advantage. 
    • Good knowledge of AutoCAD (or equivalent) 
    • Good knowledge of Staad Pro (or equivalent) 
    • Good knowledge of SACS (or equivalent) 
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Package 

    Other Information:

    • Required years of experience between 5 years — 10 years.
    • Academic Education to BS level minimum for the relevant Engineering Discipline.
