    Strategic Finance Controller

    Description 

    • Our client urgently requires the services of a Strategic Financial Controller at a Technology solution-providing company.
    • A strategic Financial Controller is responsible for all accounting-related activities, including high-level accounting, managerial accounting and finance activities, within the firm.
    • The duties of a Strategic Financial Controller include assisting with the preparation of the operating budgets, overseeing financial reporting and performing essential duties relating to payrol and taxes.
    • Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

    Key Responsibilities
    Financial Planning and Budgeting:

    • Develop comprehensive financial plans and budgets in alignment with the firm's strategic goals and priorities.
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure effective allocation of financial resources within the firm.
    • Monitor financial performance against budgeted targets and provide timely analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.

    Financial Control & Reporting:

    • Establish and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard the
    • Firm's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Lead the financial accounting and reporting process, ensuring accurate and
    • Timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable
    • Accounting standards. This will include but not be limited to monthly and quarterly
    • Management accounts and annual audited financial statements.
    • Strong controls over procurement activities.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all financial control policies including but not limited to expense management policy, procurement policy etc.

    Internal Control:

    • Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Conduct regular internal audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of controls and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepayment audit.
    • Bank reconciliation.

    Tax Compliance:

    • Ensure monthly compliance of taxes relevant to the firm.
    • Ensure accurate inclusion of taxes relating to all sales contracts and invoices
    • Review all expenses to reflect accurate tax implications.

    Leadership and People Management:

    • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
    • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and empowers staff to achieve their full potential.

    Strategic Planning:

    • Contribute to the development and execution of the firm's strategic plan by providing financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
    • Identify emerging financial trends, risks, and opportunities and advise senior leadership on appropriate courses of action.

    Insurance Management:

    • Manage the firm's insurance policies and coverage, including property, liability, and other relevant insurance products.
    • Assess insurance needs and risks, negotiate premiums, and oversee claims processing and resolution.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
    • A professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA) is highly desirable.
    • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in financial management.
    • Excellent knowledge of local and international financial reporting requirements.
    • Familiarity with tax principles, regulatory compliance, and internal control frameworks applicable to tech companies.
    • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and formulate strategic recommendations.
    • Proficiency in the use Ms Excel and accounting software
