    Teacher, Education in Emergencies

    The successful candidate will provide a stimilating, safe and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. They will also provide lesson plans by which classes are conducted. May lead and functionally supervise teacher's aides or assistants.

    Minimum qualification : NCE

    Experience length: at least 2 years

    Job description/requirements

    • organizes and provides developmentally appropriate program plans, plans and implements the curriculum and education for children 2 to 12 years
    • provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiousity, exploration, and problem solving approriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of the children
    • plan and prepare classroom setting; oversees the safety and educational programs; supervises the children in the classroom and provides a supportive environment in  which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual behaviours
    • interact with parents and community groupd; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging involvement in their learning and supporting the child's family relationships
    • write and compile individual assessments of each child's development; complete daily inventories, child attendance and related reports
    • participate in research programs concerned with improvements in all teaching methods as appropriate
    • may lead, guide and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work
    • perform other job-related duties as required or assigned

    Additional required skills

    • proven knowledge of the national curriculm scope, sequence approaches and objectives
    • ability to use varied age-approriate techniques for instruction including strategies for large class and multi-level student groups as needed
    • knowledge of Child Rights and background of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
    • ability to communicate effectively with parents, guardians and other education stakeholders to promote a safe and effective learning environment
    • demonstrated proficiency in English language. Fluency in Hausa is an asset but not a requirement
    • demonstrated basic knowledgeof literacy and math concepts
