    Head, Internal Audit

    Level: Mid-Senior level

    Job Purpose

    • The role is responsible for enhancing the overall state of internal control and governance standards in Smart Cash PSB.
    • The role aims to provide assurance to senior management and the Board and Audit Committee on compliance to laid down processes and mitigation of key risks.

    Key Accountabilities
    Improve the Internal Control Environment through active engagement with Senior Management and Management:

    • Conduct periodic meetings with Functional Chiefs, COO, CEO and other stakeholders to address the key audit issues and monitor the implementation status of management’s action plans.
    • Review control mitigation plans of functions and ensure adequate and prioritized management attention on remediating known issues and preventing recurrences.
    • Ensure that audit issues are well understood by all levels of management and staff and that learning on fraud and control issues are shared amongst relevant stakeholders to prevent recurrences.

    Audit Management:

    • Ensure partners have established plans to drive the priorities of the internal audit activity, consistent with the organization’s objectives.
    • Implement a system of tracking key project activities that impact on delivery of the audit plan.
    • Implement a system of capturing and tracking audit issues per timelines agreed with respective functional heads/ chiefs, flagging and escalation of delays in implementation of improvement opportunities.
    • Conduct regular review of the audit work done by outsourced audit partners to validate quality of audit work and reporting.
    • Identify any necessary changes to the audit methodology and ensure implementation in a timely manner.
    • Ensure quantification of losses / impact arising from lack of / ineffective controls.

    Partner Management and Communication:

    • Provide continuous feedback to partner (internal audit service providers) on quality of audit work and deployment of resources.
    • Ensure training of partner staff in order that they are able to deliver the best quality
    • Provide proposals for improvement and support the implementation of changes.
    • Ensure there is a clear line of communication between the partner and Smart Cash PSB to facilitate issue resolution in an effective and timely manner.
    • Continuous communication with the teams during the period of the engagement.

    Reporting:

    • Maintain a calendar for the board audit committee meetings.
    • Consolidate information for reporting to the board on a quarterly basis.
    • Co-ordinate receipt and dispatch of all necessary documentation and communication.
    • Ensure all levels of review prior to dispatch of board papers.
    • Flash reporting for significant issues noted in ongoing reviews.
    • Prepare all reports required for presentation to Smart Cash Senior Management.
    • Periodically report on implementation of improvement opportunities noted in reviews.

    Support / Drive Enterprise Risk management:

    • Ensure on-going dialogue with stakeholders and internally within the team to identify potential risks to ensure identification, assessment and development of mitigation plans for key risks.
    • Identify good business practices and ensure these are shared with management for implementation.
    • Drive programmes that promote risk and control awareness across the company.
    • Keep abreast of regional and international trends and identify new and emerging risks in the business and / or industry.
    • Provide guidance to other functions on risk management and compliance.

    People Management:

    • Continuous development of staff (including partner staff).
    • Ensure ongoing reassessment of skill sets required and supplement through recruitment or outsourcing.
    • Drive initiatives to address employee concerns (if any).
    • Ensure adequate progress on staff training & development, leveraging on resources from internal, as well as external service providers.

    Qualification & Experience
    Educational Qualification:

    Must have:

    • A First Degree or equivalent in any discipline.
    • Recognized professional Accounting certification such as ACCA, ACA, etc.

    Relevant Experience:
    Must have:

    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the financial management/accounting function, 5 of which must be in senior position within the audit function.

    Core Banking Applications Manager - SmartCash PSB

    Level: Mid-Senior level

    Job Purpose

    • The role of the job holder is to design, acquire, deploy, manage reliable and secure high performing core banking applications
    • The job holder will provide efficient application support framework and models that will continuously support the business functions in the bank and guarantee optimal services to internal and external customers.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Size the need for core banking based on infrastructure and business solutions inputs, capacity planning and testing as well as current performance levels.
    • Develop and maintain Core Banking application blueprint in collaboration with the governance, planning and EA Unit.
    • Provide recommendations on application development and acquisition decisions
    • Support core banking operations in a high-throughput production environment by proactively managing the performance, integrity, and security of the platform.
    • Work as a member of the technology team to assist in providing maximum availability and support of information technology systems ensuring that business needs are accurately achieved.
    • Ensure the availability, integrity, and security of the bank’s application portfolio and customer information.
    • Monitor service levels of solutions and platform; initiate activities to improve under-performing areas within the agreed SLA structure.
    • Deploy internally developed application and Core Banking patches/releases to branches within the defined SLAs.

    • Lead and develop team leaders and members to ensure a highly productive and positive work environment.

    Qualification, Competencies & Experience
    Educational Qualification:

    Must have:

    • First Degree in relevant field Computer Science / Information Technology, Advanced Degree and relevant / MBA and industry certifications will be an added advantage.

    Relevant Experience:
    Must have:

    • 10 - 15 years professional ICT experience with a minimum of 10 years in a senior IT management role gained in a mature technology environment.

    Competencies Required:
    Must have:

    • Knowledge of environments: Unix/Linux, Windows Server/XP/Vista, and Open systems.
    • Core Banking system technical and functional knowledge.
    • Enterprise application data and infrastructure architecture.
    • Relational Database modelling and management.
    • Project management of small to large full lifecycle projects.

    Lead, Wallet and Mobile Financial Services - SmartCash PSB

    Level: Mid-Senior level

    Job Purpose

    • The role aims to provide service management and operational direction with particular focus on IT service management in co-operation with Smart Cash IT Partners.
    • Ensuring IT products give the expected value to customers and hence meet commercial objectives of the business.
    • The role holder will lead operations on wallet platform and all integrations with Smart Cash Partners and aim to ensure the best possible customer experience in line with the goals the business.

    Key Accountabilities
    Service and Partner Management:

    • Ensure timely operations and maintenance work is carried out on hardware and systems.
    • Ensure that all system changes are managed in line with agreed change process to avoid outages caused by poor planning and execution.
    • Ensuring technology partners deliver all services in line with the agreed SLAs.
    • Validation Quality of Service reports shared by partners Partner engagement to obtain feedback on ways of continuously improve the service.
    • Regular Partner Governance.

    Incident Management:

    • Ensuring incidents are acknowledged to reporting party.
    • Ensuring prompt identification of the scope of incidents.
    • Ensure logging of incidents with correct severity.
    • Ensuring prompt resolution of incidents with SLA’s and escalation to relevant teams where necessary.
    • Prompt and clear updates to business partners on progress and resolution of incidents.
    • Root cause analysis and change management.
    • Monitor SR/Incidents on a daily basis & ensure closure as per SLA.

    Business Engagement:

    • Maintain a sound relationship with business functions in order to ensure satisfaction in the use of IT systems, manage expectations.
    • Obtain feedback on product performance and persistent pain points for purpose of product improvement.
    • Prompt engagement customer service , Wallet platform Operation , Sales team teams during scheduled maintenance outages and incidents.
    • Regular business engagement & external partner engagement to improve operational efficiency.

    Service Requests and Change requests:

    • Translation of business service requests into clear functional change requests to be implemented.
    • Bridging between business and technical teams.
    • Ensure optimal scheduling of changes to minimize downtime and comply with internal and external change regulations.
    • Ensure Operation handover from Project team.

    Compliance To SmartCash Security, Operational and Governance Policies:

    • Enforcement on of SmartCash Security Policy on existing applications and services.
    • Ensuring new vendors/partners applications adhere to SmartCash Security Policy /process before deployment to live the environment.
    • Ensuring SmartCash IT Operational policies are followed during day to day operations of all services, products and applications.
    • Follow SmartCash IT Governance processes in consequence management
    • Closure of points raised during IT audits.

    Handshaking with Portfolio and Release management on New Deployments:

    • VerifY that all new deployments have met all requirement s for deployment to live environment including UAT’s completed successfully, RA validation, security assessment, clear deployment and roll back plan etc
    • Engage portfolio release management on teething problems and resolution.

    Other Requirements:

    • Demonstrated success in managing multiple services simultaneously
    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
    • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
    • Successful background with stakeholder/partner management.

    Qualification & Experience
    Educational Qualification:

    Must have:

    • University Degree in Computer Science or other related disciplines.

    Relevant Experience
    Must have:

    • 7- 10 years with a minimum of 3 years in team leadership role preferably within the Telecoms/Finance services industry.
    • Experience in databases, Linux, system integration, applications development and deployment is most desirable
    • Experience in service management.
