    Head Legal Officer

    Job Description

    • The role holder will oversee the company's legal functions.
    • The role holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Legal Matters in the Bank which include Provision of Advisory services, Representing the Bank in court, Maintaining Bank Asset as it relates to land Collaterals, ensuring that Security taken by the bank is adequate by conducting searches at the appropriate Authority, and Liaising with other experts in providing quality legal service for the bank.
    • Ultimately, the ideal candidate must possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, sound knowledge of real estate and mortgage industry both in Nigeria and globally.

    Job Description

    • Manage and oversee all issues/matters as it concerns Board of Directors as well as the Shareholders.
    • Review and vet Loan Offer letters, agreements, security and other legal documents
    • Conduct legal compliance checks prior to disbursement of approved credit facilities to ensure legal documentations are in compliance with statutory requirements
    • Review the Financing agreements between the Business Services Department, Consultants and other parties.
    • Instruct external lawyers and follow up to conclusion all litigation instituted for and against the Bank
    • Prepare legal opinions and advising the management on general legal issues within the expertise of the Legal officer that may arise from time to time
    • Managing the security documentation deposit, safe custody and retrieval.
    • Review, investigate (searches), and authenticate securities offered as collateral for credit.
    • Advice on the suitability or otherwise of securities presented as collaterals by borrowers and undertakers.
    • Custodian of Company Seal, The Trust Deed and all vital documents with respect to Company formation and continued existence including any title documents and contracts.
    • Ensure compliance with the relevant Laws and any other statutes that may come into effect and that would affect the business.
    • Follow-up on contracted external Lawyers to procure legal opinions, services, interpretations, and consultations.
    • Prepare, review, and advice on MOUs, SLAs, and all forms of contractual agreements between the Bank and other parties.
    • Ensure that all notifications to Board are issued within the regulatory periods.
    • Other duties as may be assigned by the CEO or the Board of Directors.

    Person Specification

    • Must have Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree in Law (LLB and LLM).
    • 7 to 10 years of experience in Company Law and Legal Mortgage/Property Search and dealings with Land registry.
    • AICSAN certification will be an added advantage.

    Legal Officer

    Job Summary

    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assistance of the legal adviser/company secretary to achieve the corporate goal of the department within regulation and best practices covering corporate legal relationship, administration, affairs, board secretariat, and shares management of the Bank and its stakeholders.

    Job Description

    • Prepare legal opinions and advice on general legal issues.
    • Provide legal advisory and interpretation services on various aspects of existing law and regulatory requirements.
    • Supervision of the maintenance of the shareholders’ register vis a vis shareholding and shares management.
    • Analyze the impact of marketing campaigns and prepare monthly reports on campaign and budget performance.

    • Prepare, review, and advice on MOUs, SLAs, and all forms of contractual agreements between the Bank and other parties.
    • Relate with Statutory Regulators to ensure that the Bank is operating within regulationand applicable laws.
    • Supervision of registration and custody of credit securities, property titles, and legal documents.

    Person Specification

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Law (BL and LLB).
    • Proven work experience in Company and Legal Mortgage/Property Search and dealings with Land registry.
    • AICSAN certification will be an added advantage.
