    Head, Treasury

    Job Purpose(s)

    • Responsible for managing the bank’s liquidity profitably, whilst ensuring that the bank remains solvent and able tmeet its present and future obligations.
    • ls responsible for ensuring that the bank generates revenues from defined risk-taking activities in the various financial markets whilst adhering tthe bank’s defined risk tolerance levels

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provides strategic direction on:
      • all trading and risk-taking activity across multiple asset classes
      • revenue generation and diversification of revenue streams from all treasury activities
      • the bank’s risk-taking framework in line with the bank’s overall risk appetite
      • the compliance of Statutory ratios/Limits
      • driving the bank’s market positioning with a view testablish the bank’s position as a financial market and thought leader
      • supporting treasury sales and relationship teams tultimately drive customer treasury product activity
      • the attainment of Treasury’s revenue targets whilst efficiently managing the expenditure budget
    • Develops and mentors talent within the team, build bench for the future
    • Provides market feedback and market dynamics tthe bank and customers
    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with price risk limits as agreed with risk directorate
    • Propagates the bank’s market positioning through advocacy and participation in relevant market developmental activities/ bodies
    • Drives conduct and performance of all team members, in line with market best practice and norms
    • Builds key relationships with all critical regulatory bodies
    • Liaises with other internal customers – front, middle and back office
    • Supports the front office SBUs with marketing calls on clients
    • Ensures team members have thorough understanding of relevant bank policies
    • Liaises with regulators on team’s behalf tdrive market development and influence policy direction
    • Responsible for the overall supervision of Treasury
    • Complies with all Bank policies.

    Job Requirements

    Education

    Minimum Education:

    • First Degree in any discipline preferably business related, and additional qualifications such as MBA, ACA, and ACIB.

    Experience

    • Minimum experience – 10 years relevant experience

    Knowledge

    • Advanced knowledge of treasury products
    • Advanced knowledge of Derivative products
    • Thorough understanding of financial markets and market dynamics macroeconomics – domestic and international market awareness
    • Advanced credit knowledge thorough knowledge of banking policies and regulatory matters, accounting, financial mathematics and modelling awareness of domestic and international market practices and conventions market risk knowledge

    Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

    Job Purpose:

    • A CRO leads efforts to reduce business risks that can put an organization's profitability and productivity at risk

    Responsibilities:

    • Developing risk maps and formulating strategic action plans to help minimize, manage, and mitigate primary risks and then monitor the progress of these efforts.
    • Creating and disseminating risk analysis reports and progress reports to different stakeholders, including employees, board members, and C-suite executives.
    • Ensuring that risk management priorities are reflected in the company's strategic plans.
    • Formulating and implementing risk assurance strategies that are related to the transmission, storage, and use of information and data systems.
    • Evaluating possible operational risks that may arise from human error or system failures, which might disrupt or affect business processes. The CRO also develops different strategies to minimize risk exposure and designates appropriate responses for when human errors or system failures occur.
    • Measuring the organization's risk appetite, and setting the amount of risk that the organization is able – and willing – to take on.
    • Developing budgets for risk-related projects and supervising their funding
    • Conducting risk assurance and due diligence on behalf of the organization in the events of mergers, acquisitions, and business deals.

    • Build risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company.
