    Head, EEDs Business

    Role Summary

    The Head, EEDs Business is a senior management position responsible for the strategy, growth, and achievement of the rapidly growing eB2C and eB2B appliances business lines and for various mini-grid sites including exploring any other markets. The Head, EEDs Business, will own all plans and strategies for developing the business and creating a first-mover giant in the rural eB2C & eB2B space. 

    This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in India and Nigeria and reports to the Global Head, EEDs with a dotted line to the Country Director.

    Key responsibilities:

    General

    • Responsible for P&L and market share-driven growth decisions for the eB2C & eB2B business
    • Responsible for end-to-end growth of the overall business: Monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting tracking progress for sales, customer management, and operational parameters.
    • Market sizing the overall geography and expanding into cities and districts across the territories.
    • Responsible for customer penetration and maximization of customer density and customer output in the region
    • Coordination and follow-up with cross-functional teams, for growth and relationship management of existing business.
    • Maintaining relationships with the Key Community Leaders in the designated area and mentoring the team toward the right relationship management with their respective leaders
    • Building and leading functions including sales, marketing, customer relationship, operations, and fulfillment through logistics, procurement, and software platforms.
    • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performance team for sales, marketing, and operations by setting clear goals and providing ongoing coaching and support.
    • Drive results by setting clear performance expectations, constantly monitoring and driving individual and team performance, and recognizing and rewarding high achievers.

    Innovation & Growth

    • Guide marketing to drive pricing, offline and digital offers, loyalty programs, and product portfolio strategy.
    • Collaborate with the tech team to develop, implement, and continuously improve customer and internal-facing software solutions.
    • Drive operations and logistics to drive cost, forecast, fulfillment, deliveries, and value-added services.
    • Work closely with accounts and finance to manage business KPIs.

    Drive P&L KPIs

    • Leverage the Husk brand and own personal network to build processes for customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty.
    • Drive data-driven insights leading to sales, profitability, and customer strategies.
    • Own all parts of the customer journey by creating a deep and wide funnel from lead generation to customer satisfaction.
    • Own and drive customer relationships
    • Be responsible for payments and collection of outstanding amounts from customers.
    • Bring extreme discipline to all offline and online processes.

    Reporting and Dashboarding

    • Be the organization’s eyes and ears to understand and build on market trends.
    • Be the voice of the business unit, leading reporting at daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly levels, to be shared at CXO and investors' level.
    • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive activity to identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights to senior management.

    Required Skills & Attributes

    • 12+ years of relevant business leadership experience, preferably in the consumer durables or white goods segments
    • 5+ years of experience in leading high-performing sales teams
    • Experience in handling large, multi-tiered, geographically spread sales teams.
    • Strong experience in high-growth tech start-ups, preferably focused on Tier-2 markets with MSME customers/ retailers/businesses.
    • Very strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, and recommendations, and drive actions.
    • Strength in problem-solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
    • You have no issues working in (and living around) rural Nigeria and in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.

    Finance Officer

    Role Summary

    Husk is seeking a Finance Officer to join the business team in Nigeria. This individual will play an integral role in providing day-to-day support to the Nigeria Team on finance-related activities. The role will also support the Finance Manager in coordinating daily operational functions and business efficiency within the larger team and providing support for any possible external relations efforts. The role requires handling confidential business information on a regular basis and with great discretion. We are seeking someone with prior experience as a Finance assistant, or related roles and who is dynamic, with process administrative skills. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have experience with basic organizational finance support requirements. The candidate must also be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s (sub-Saharan Africa’s) most critical challenges – the energy access deficit. This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in many countries across Asia and Africa.

    The individual should also be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s most critical challenges – the energy access deficit. This is a Finance Officer role with a reporting line to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.

    Key Responsibilities

    General

    • Provide direct support to the Finance Manager and the larger Global Finance Team.
    • Support the day-to-day management of financial transactions, procedures, and processes.
    • Provide regular business support to the Business Units as directed by the Finance Manager.
    • Support the preparation of annual budgets for Husk Nigeria.
    • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Treasury Management Support

    • Ensure payments are processed in compliance with all internal SLAs.
    • Provide support to collection activities, and compile collection reports as required.
    • Assist the Finance Team to review and analyze all finance requirements as required.
    • Provide regular support to Business Units on various projects and initiatives including third-party financing discussions.
    • Support the Finance Team in ensuring invoices are checked and processed timely.

    Finance Operations Support

    • Support the Finance Team to ensure business continuity and prepare cash flow forecast for the company to ensure that cash is always available for operations.
    • Support audit activities as required by the Finance Manager, ensuring audits are completed timely and all audit outcomes are duly socialized.
    • Ensure all financial inquiries are addressed in a timely manner.
    • Assist in managing all credit and collection activities with relevant teams.
    • Ensure adequate tracking of employee cash/disbursement/advance for inputs into larger Finance reports.

    Required Skills & Attributes

    • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Economics, Finance, or a similar course of study; already have or pursuing ACCA/ICAN or relevant qualifications; an added advantage.
    • You have 2 years of financial management, accounting, or audit experience.
    • Excellent knowledge and use of MS Office, Google Suite, and other relevant tools; high proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel use for reports and presentations expected.
    • Excellent skills with relevant finance/accounting tools plus data analysis/reporting tools (Excel).
    • Excellent communication skills: with a high level of assertiveness and ability to take initiative.
    • Highly numerate and analytical with an ability to make strategic inputs for driving and achieving business goals.
    • Responsive with great time management and organizational skills
    • A Can-Do attitude with a knack for taking ownership of deliverables and seeking guidance as required.
    • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.

    Manager, New Initiatives

    Role Summary

    Husk is seeking a Manager, New Initiatives who will have direct responsibility for supporting the Country Team in Nigeria to commercialize new initiatives leveraging the availability of reliable power in its minigrid locations.

    The individual must have the ability to assess opportunities for potential sources of revenue and impact within these locations, work with relevant stakeholders, and ensure a hands-on approach to driving such initiatives.

    This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in India and Nigeria.

    Key responsibilities:

    General

    • Implement the agreed growth strategies and plans as set out by the Country Management Team
    • Support in driving the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual business strategies for the business.
    • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    New Business Initiatives

    • Develop accurate segmentation and targeting of the existing market including identification of customer and market opportunities, market entry/expansion strategy, and establishing a balance of long-term pipeline and short-term revenue.
    • Support in structuring and institutionalizing processes around identifying and serving existing customers’/clients’ needs to match the company’s corporate strategy and ensure the sustainability of business verticals.
    • Support efforts in sourcing potential leads for partnerships, joint ventures, and possible funding for deploying various POC projects/initiatives across mini-grid locations with expected direct impact on the topline.
    • Design cooperation structures, and role-sharing and assess economics for such partnerships/JVs.
    • Drive business development, expansion, and business reporting activities for the business initiatives portfolio in alignment with set objectives.

    Business Growth

    • Ensure support with the relevant Teams on inputs regarding the deployment and implementation of POC projects and initiatives.
    • Support market research activities across the business, including but not limited to marketing, business development, review, and budgeting.
    • Support efforts for business communications internally and externally, including project press releases, case study development, and videos.
    • Ensure support for other Business Units to drive alignment with country-level objectives as required.

    Funding Proposals/Thought Leadership

    • Support engagement with various stakeholders to ensure Husk maintains local visibility as the industry leader.
    • Support engagements with relevant stakeholders for submission of funding proposals geared towards specific POC projects and/or initiatives.

    Stakeholder/Partnership Engagements

    • Work with potential partners to implement new initiatives across Husk business locations.
    • Collaborate with relevant internal teams including the Senior Leadership Team to present initiatives and ensure implementation of initiatives for business growth.

    Qualifications

    • You have 2+ years of experience working in business consulting, startups, or similar environment.  
    • Responsive with great time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to create and deliver presentations, concept notes, and proposals tailored to the audience’s needs.
    • A Can-Do attitude with a knack for taking ownership of deliverables while being open to feedback.
