    Electrical Technician

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • In this role you’ll need to ensure the reduction of breakdown on SMD machines and achieve maximum availability and efficiency through effective maintenance and provision of electrical support to all SMD production machineries in line with best practices, at an effective cost, in an hygienic and safe working environment.

    What You Will be Accountable For

    • Provide in-house training to electro technical staff when the need arises in order to raise the technical skill level.
    • Provide technical support to production machines in SMD and other BAT Factories.
    • Ensure maximum machine availability and efficiency through effective electrical maintenance
    • Implement SMD machines weekly cleaning and monthly electro technical maintenance
    • Ensure documentation of weekly cleaning and monthly electro technical maintenance carried out on SMD machines.
    • Attend to technical call out request from SMD Cell Managers
    • Ensures spares are planned and ready for use according to machine planned and preventative electro technical maintenance schedules.
    • Implementation of downtime analysis of SMD machines and uses information to improve maintenance.
    • Prepare for and present the learning and development solutions that addresses identified learning needs of individuals or group.
    • Lead and attend to all Projects and NPI from electrical areas and deliver all electrical section of initiatives.
    • Monitor machine down time, interpret information in order to make decision and reduce month on month
    • Keeps Production Engineering Manager abreast of maintenance/technical issues on the floor
    • Builds cordial relationships with technical staff & other shop floor operators as an integrated member of both the technical team and Shop floor operations

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • HND in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
    • Around 8 years of experience in FMCG manufacturing company and knowledge of making and packaging machinery.
    • Tobacco industry experience with knowledge of cigarette making, packing machinery, Filter rod making and cut tobacco tipping machine would be a plus.
    • Designing and developing control programs for electrical machines and systems, looking for fault diagnostics and performing maintenance as needed and developing and optimizing PLC processes. The role holder must be skilled in the use of programming languages such as C++ and/or Python
    • In addition, a high degree of interpersonal skill will be required to establish credentials and to pass on knowledge and experience to newer team members

    Merchandiser

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • You will be a member of the Trade Marketing & Distribution department, which is responsible for the implementation of the route to market strategy.
    • This includes ensuring product availability, visibility, volume, margin, quality, and retail pricing are properly implemented and monitored.
    • The job is also about identification of new opportunities and the initiation, development, and deployment of trade programmes.

    What You Will be Accountable For
    Your day-to-day activity is to:

    • Ensure the effective and efficient execution of marketing activities in the defined territory and extended coverage area
    • Serve as part of a ‘Tactical Response Team’, positioned to address situations arising within the market, as well as business needs. In this regard, direction to be provided by Area Manager, TMDM or Regional Manager
    • Execute basic TM&D activities in the outlets located within the territory in order to meet company objectives as described in the cycle plan (visibility, availability, freshness, consumer contacting etc)
    • Achieve volume and distribution targets through direct selling (Top-up stock), management of the rural wholesale customer and monitoring of van sales.
    • Improve the company’s corporate image by operating at the highest business ethics, environmental, health and safety standards using the IMP as a guide

    Your People Responsibility will be:

    • Supporting Rural wholesale business expansion by providing Trade marketing support for the DSS rep attached.
    • Engaging local government officials, transport/ traffic agencies and other stakeholders to avoid disruption of BAT operations in the defined rural territory.
    • Supporting Van Reps to achieve high performance by developing new routes and giving TM&D support to existing outlets.

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • Candidate must have an OND / HND qualification from any reputable polytechnic.
    • Should have basic Selling, negotiation and influencing skills.
    • Knowledge of developing and maintaining relationships with consumers, retailers and semi wholesaler
    • Knowledge of redistribution concept, business reporting and communication
    • Fluency in English
    • Driving Skills
    • Knowledge of Rural towns and road networks is desirable
    • Understanding of the local languages in territory is a plus.

    Project Assistant & Spares Analyst

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • You will need to drive/lead the start-up activities of site/module/initiative start-up team(s) and serve as coach to site/module operations resources in execution of small change/small projects.

    What You Will be Accountable For

    • To support the Plant CBN by:
      • Execution of GSUM on the project he/she is Start-up leader, resulting in improved:
        • Plant unplanned downtime associated with all change and overall plant process reliability
        • Productivity & speed to deliver all change
        • Performance achieving project & initiative success criteria (including but not limited to: VSU)
    • For Initiatives execution, engages typically at “Definition”/“Strategy & Commitment” Phase:
      • Charters the initiative start-up team(s)
      • Accountable for all tasks being completed on time
      • Owns the staffing and resourcing assignments/start-up support
    • Owns reporting results and tracking for the Start-Up Work Process through to the end of Initial Verification and for the overall completion of project deliverables to close out (month 2 after SOP)
    • Own Start-up charter and population/alignment of roles/responsibilities for the Start-Up Work Process phases and project deliverables.
    • Owns identifying how many systems you have and what is included within each system to prepare required documentation and support the start up
    • Establish communication plan for start-up team
    • Initiate and lead manufacturing readiness & resulting action plan (Current Operations Assessment and initiative deliverables)
    • Coordinate plant-level risk mitigation plan with external partners and operations and reflect in start-up plan
    • Operations ownership of Pre and Post Start-Up list mitigation plans and the operations single point of contact for issue resolution and alignment
    • Own plant-level start-up team/operations safety plan for project/initiative after construction turnover
    • Own updates for masterplan, in process measures and output measures to the Site Change Masterplan and Dashboard over the life of their project(s)
    • As required, develop and give presentations to various audiences and levels in the organization as the “voice of the project” giving updates, projects reviews, etc.
    • Align with plant-level leadership (Engineering, Operations) on the project-specific start-up success criteria
    • Supports the quarterly Site GSUM SWP Health Check & IM Pillar Annual Assessment
    • Supports GSUM training sessions, both formal classroom training and informal one to one/small group training
    • Material Resource Planning of class SMD A, B, C spares on a weekly basis
    • Recommendation of Spares for sale to other plants
    • Analysis of Spare usage to prevent Out Of Stock and keeping Inventory levels healthy

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • Higher National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or related field
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in FMCG industry
    • Knowledge of cigarette making processes and experience of running these machines in a production environment or experience in supporting launch/delivery/start-up of cigarette making/packing machines would be an added advantage
    • Experience in using MS Office Package; SAP working experience would be a plus
    • A high degree of inter-personal skill will be required to establish credentials and to pass on knowledge and experience to newer team members.

    • Desirable Requirements:
    • You’ll be travelling extensively across your territory to meet a wide variety of trade partners, so you’ll need to be prepared to spend a lot of time on the road.
