    Senior Legal Associate

    Industry: Law
    Our client, a full service law firm is seeking to engage the services of a Senior Associate in Banking and Finance practice area of Law.
    The ideal candidate will be responsible for Interpreting laws, ruling and regulations for banking and finance transactions as well as supporting the legal and advisory needs associated with a banking and finance portfolio.


    Summarized Job Description:

    • Prepare Legal Opinion and Memorandum.
    • Draft security documents including charge, mortgage, guarantee, debenture, pledge.
    • Register documents at CAC, land registry, ship registry, collateral registry, etc.
    • Advise on transaction structures and documentation for transactions.
    • Advise on regulatory compliance for banks and other financial institutions.
    • Collate and update records of CBN circulars, guidelines, and regulations.
    • Write articles newsletters on regulatory and commercial developments relating to banking and finance.
    • Advise on regulation of Fintech and start-up companies in the financial services industry.
    • Advise on financial products, foreign exchange control and financial market.
    • Advise on transaction structures and documentation for transactions.
    • Participate in negotiating and finalizing all legal documentation relevant to transactions.
    • Advise on regulatory compliance for banks and other financial institutions.

    Person Specification:

    • Minimum of a BL/ LLB (LLM is an added advantage).
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leading commercial law firm.
    • Ability to market legal services and work proactively
    • Minimum of 9 years’ post-call experience.
    • Ability to multitask and fulfil duties and deadlines with minimum guidance.
    • Good negotiation skills.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Strong leadership skills.
