    Medical Doctor

    Code: MD01400
    Locations: Skinkafi & Zumri, Zamfara
    Report to: Medical Activity Manager

    Working Hours: 48 Hours per Week
    Contract Duration: Upon Request Only
    Expected Start Date: 20th March 2022
    Level: 9

    Main Purpose

    • Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients / beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients / beneficiaries health conditions.

    Context Specific Accountabilities

    • Participate actively to any emergency assessment ,explo-action or intervention engaged by NIMERT team in an emergency settings
    • Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols
    • Be a key person in emergency pool, well trained and available
    • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication that may arise l.
    • Carry out the assessment with support of his supervisor by respecting MSF standard guidelines and protocols
    • Participate in pre rapid assessment briefing, in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, in writing explo report
    • Ensure that emergency pool members are trained in order to optimize the quality of the explo or intervention.
    • Detect any need of training among the team and propose to the supervisor;
    • Assist to every training or meeting organized for capacity building
    • Have knowledge in tropical medicine and medical/humanitarian diseases outbreaks response like Measles,Cholera,Meningitis,Nutrition crisis,IDPs,yellow fever,VHFs,malaria,vaccination campaign
    • Ensures vaccination according to age and protocol or vaccination strategy) etc;
    • Ensures that all members of emergency pool promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all medical information for beneficiaries.
    • Identify and ensure prompt referral of patients if needed and according to the security context during the explo-action or intervention while providing support to other members of emergency pool when needed.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • MBBS Certificate, Desirable certificate in Tropical Medicine and Emergency Response Training (ERT).

    Experience:

    • 2 years’ minimum experience as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work.
    • Knowledge in tropical medicine and medical/humanitarian outbreaks and good understanding of medical emegerncy response. Post-registration experience in Public Health, obs and gynae, pediatrics, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.

    Languages:

    • Essential-English and Hausa.

    • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, Power Point).

    Nurse

    Locations: Shinkafi & Zurmi - Zamfara
    Employment Type: Contract
    Report to: (Hierarchical): Nurse Team Supervisor
    Report to (functional): Nurse Team Supervisor / Nurse Activity Manager
    Contract Duration: 06 (six) Months Renewable
    Level: 5

    Main Purpose

    • Provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population

    Accountabilities

    • Supervise and train nurse-aids, nutritional assistants, cleaners and other related staff under his/her supervision, ensuring teamwork and adherence to all appropriate protocols and procedures  
    • Promote, implement and following-up the universal hygiene standards, protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene in MSF working environment.  
    • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures.  
    • Identify Sexually Gender-Based Violence victims and referring them to the medical team so they can receive necessary treatment.  
    • Ensure patients are properly received and that lack of autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort.  
    • Monitor patients admissions, surveillance and follow-up’s. (i.e. assessment of the evolution of their state of health and the identification of any emergency or deterioration.
    • Carryout and supervise administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.)
    • Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert the supervisor in case of malfunctioning.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma. Desirable-Bachelor’s in Nursing.

    Experience:

    • Desirable 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in MSF or another NGO’s
    • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting     

    Languages:

    • Essential English, Hausa.

    Salary
    According to the OCBA salary grid-scale (National contract).
