    Roaster Advertisement - Program Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Program Officer will provide technical support to the field team in key programmatic areas such as agricultural productivity and sustainability, Horticulture, and financial inclusion.
    • She/he will provide technical expertise in resilient agriculture with a special focus on climate-smart agricultural production, agricultural extension, agribusiness & value chain development, and smallholder farmer financial inclusion.
    • She/he must have extensive experience in smallholder agricultural intervention, farmer training, and extension services.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design and implement strategies to enhance agricultural productivity through sustainable practices and conducting training of trainers (ToT) to community structures
    • Support the project coordinator to coordinate and implement all Nuru impact & agricultural program activities in the intervention communities with a focus on achieving Nuru’s vision and strategic objectives
    • Facilitate and guide farmers on appropriate cropping patterns, and farming techniques through the establishment of demo plots to promote the adoption of good agricultural practices and savings & loan activities to promote social cohesion and increase income.
    • Directly responsible for managing assigned Nuru intervention communities and integrating Nuru organization within the assigned communities ensuring organizational acceptance by the communities.
    • Facilitate the establishment of farmer associations and provide support in their transitioning into well-structured farmer's organizations.
    • Directly responsible for providing the technical content on all agricultural extension training materials, training curriculums, and financial inclusion training materials.
    • Deliver one-on-one extension services to farmers and provide other on-farm extension advisory support services to the farmers.
    • Establish and maintain successful relationships with Market actors, implementing partners, community leaders, and other key stakeholders within implementation field sites.
    • Prepare high-quality monthly Activity Progress Reports and ensure they are submitted on time, document and share lessons learned, success stories as well as the general situation and community updates and feedback
    • Exemplify the servant leadership philosophy of Nuru Nigeria and work with other team members to build an organizational culture of service and a farmer-first principle.
    • Foster organizational development through strict adherence to Nuru’s values and principles ensuring accountability and high performance at all times.
    • Perform any other duties as required by and instructed by the Project Coordinator

    Qualification and Job Requirements

    • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent (M.Sc is an added advantage) in general agriculture, animal husbandry, agricultural economics, agriculture extension, rural livelihoods, etc.
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience in relevant fields with a local or international NGO
    • Experienced and exposure to field operations in both emergency and recovery programs
    • Experience in agricultural extension services
    • Experience working with farmer associations/ groups or village savings and loan clubs
    • Experience and comfortable working in rural areas and with rural people, who have low literacy level
    • Sustainable agriculture production and natural resource management knowledge
    • Proficient in computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Drive & Applications, Internet, etc.)
    • Excellent presentation skills, and capacity to deliver appropriate and relevant training to a target audience
    • Very good communication, analytical, and reporting skills
    • Ability to work in a cross-cultural, cross-functional environment and across departments
    • High motivation for improvement and ability to deliver in a challenging environment
    • Excellent Written and spoken English Language

    Roaster Advertisement - Program Assistant

    Job Description

    • The project assistant will report to the project coordinator to support the strengthening of local systems for building community resilience and livelihoods through the implementation of the agricultural and financial inclusion intervention.
    • She / He will work with the program officer to provide technical expertise in resilient agriculture with a special focus on climate-smart agricultural production, horticulture, agricultural extension, agribusiness & value chain development, and smallholder farmer financial inclusion.
    • She / He must have extensive experience in smallholder agricultural intervention, farmer training, and extension services

    Job Responsibilities

    • The project assistant will provide overall technical expertise and support the program Officer to effectively implement all program activities focused on agriculture, financial inclusion, farmer group organization, agribusiness enterprise and Income Generation Activity (IGA), value addition, and nutrition in a sustainable way
    • Lead all farmer training and capacity-building activities through building out a robust training plan/calendar and training schedule and adapting training materials to context using appropriate training language for farmer engagement.
    • Directly responsible for managing assigned intervention communities and integrating the program activities within the assigned communities ensuring full acceptance and ownership by the communities.
    • Deliver one-on-one extension services to farmers and provide other on-farm extension advisory support services to the farmers.
    • Actively work closely with community structures for the implementation of all programs through effective community mobilization and sensitization for community-led agricultural, and financial inclusion activities with a focus on achieving the project strategic objectives.
    • Work very closely with leaders of the farmer groups to promote social cohesion through increased farmers' Savings & Loan activities and adoption of good agricultural practices among the farmers through the establishment of Demonstration plots for increased farmers' income.
    • Facilitate the establishment of farmer associations and provide support in their transitioning into well-structured farmer's organizations.
    • Support the Monitoring & Evaluation team to track program activities, and deliver surveys, assessments, and other monitoring activities to ensure that interventions are on track for progress and increased impact.
    • Provide weekly field reports, contribute to monthly Activity Progress Reports, document and share lessons learned, success stories, community feedback as well as general situational awareness within the communities.
    • Perform any other tasks that may be assigned/instructed by the Supervisor.

    Roaster Advertisement - M&E Officer

    Job Summary

    • The M & E Officer will work closely with M&E Coordinator in deploying Nuru Nigeria’s program strategy. Implement a sustainable and formal strategy of data collection, processing, quality checking, storage and sharing outcomes in a timely manner to support the data-driven decision by the management team. The M&E officer will collaborate with team members to monitor, evaluate and inform organisation on the outcomes of the project objectives which includes developing climate-smart agriculture and sustainable transformation of Agri-SMEs in selected value chains, expand renewable and smart energy, promote circular economy and develop innovation and create jobs for youth and women. Interventions will be in line with the European Green Deal, the EU Industrial Strategy, the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP), and “Farm to Fork” Strategy as it relates to sustainable food systems.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Support the M&E Coordinator in executing the M&E strategy.
    • Support in the effective design of templates and standard data tools that support efficiency and effectiveness in program delivery of M&E for all Nuru Nigeria’s projects.
    • Contributing to the development and utilisation of monitoring tools, including pre and post training tests, surveys, discussion guides etc, and ensuring that the data tools are properly used.
    • Support in organising data collection and analysis for beneficiary and community selection.
    • Scripting of survey questionnaires using industry specific software e.g. xls form
    • Support in facilitating and monitoring research activities (e.g. key informant/in-depth interviews, focus group sessions, quantitative surveys, farmer association recruitment and registrations etc.), working to time, budget and proposals.
    • Support in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, interpretation and communication of learnings to relevant/key Project and Management teams, to aid strategic thinking and decision making.
    • Support M&E coordinator in processing of data for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
    • Support the procurement of freelancers/research assistants for M&E activities.
    • Train and manage research assistants and other temporary M&E hires on use of monitoring and evaluation tools and ensure proper implementation.
    • Ensure the accurate and timely collection of program data from the field and accurate reports for decision-making, donors and various stakeholders.
    • Recommend further improvement of the logical framework
    • Undertake the supervision and ensure quality control/assurance of M&E fieldwork
    • Provide feedback to the project team on project strategies and activity performance
    • Suggest strategies to the Project team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimise or eliminate such bottlenecks
    • Support in developing impact indicator for the project success and tracking it against outcome/impact
    • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the M&E coordinator in preparing relevant reports.
    • Support in the design of research sampling, research instruments (e.g. discussion guides and questionnaires) and design of presentation charts.
    • Undertake administrative duties to include documentation, pre-fieldwork logistic planning and resource acquisition. As well as findings from data quality audit and store in project files to ensure collective and sustainable access.
    • Establish and maintain a project monitoring database system by developing and updating tracking systems for financial inclusion activity, loan repayments, registered households and the various programs enrolled to, referrals to other implementing partners and other program elements as might be required by donors.
    • Support in contributing contents for NN’s website/social media site with news, success stories, new donors, major activities and achievements of NN.
    • Support in facilitating the dissemination of information through community stakeholders events and NN communications outputs (fact sheets, success stories, etc.)
    • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
    • Respect for Nuru Nigeria identity, rules and policies.
    • Travel regularly to support the programs team to conduct site monitoring activities in respective implementation sites.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop Nuru Nigeria programs.

    Requirements and Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree or above preferably in Anthropology/ Statistics / Development Studies / Economics /Computer Science Any other relevant social science discipline. Additional Master’s Degree in any development field is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 3 (three) years demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation with reputed organisations, preferably with INGOs, donor agencies or international organisations
    • Knowledge on both qualitative and quantitative research methods; study methodology, Tools for capturing knowledge and learnings, MEL tools and techniques, and application of computer software (MS Excel, SPSS, GIS, data visualisation software and g-drive) and monitoring devices is essential.
    • Excellent analysis and writing analytical quality report skill is crucial; Knowledge and use of Mobile data collection and visualisation tools especially ODK, Kobo, SurveyCTO and PowerBi is required.
    • Good communication skills and experience working with partners and donors, proactiveness, positive attitude and professional integrity is required as well.
    • Ability to respond positively to critical feedback and different points of view

    Preferred:

    • Speaks, reads, and writes fluently in English, Hausa and Babur.
    • Resident and familiarity with the terrain in the Northeast Nigeria
    • Proven interest & commitment to humanitarian and development principles and demonstrable understanding of conflict/post conflict development contexts.
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and comply with ethical research in the field
    • Team player with positive attitude
    • Flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
    • Good communication and public speaking skills
