The Federal Medical Centre, Abuja was established on the 7th of June, 2012 but was fully commissioned by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on 28th of January, 2013. The hospital project arose from the China-Africa cooperation forum, Beijing Summit, held on the 2nd to 21st of June, 2008. The government of the People’s Republic of China offered to assist Nigeria in building and equipping one Comprehensive Hospital and four rural Primary Schools.

The Director of Administration shall hold office effective from the date of appointment inclusive of any period previously served in other organizations in the Public Service, provided the officer does not attain the Mandatory retirement age of Sixty (60) years or thirty-five (35) years of service (whichever comes first) and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
