    Verification Officer

    Job Summary

    • Working as a verification officer, you would be responsible to carry out verification exercise in respect to all loans awaiting approval, you are going to leverage on experience and our standard operating procedures to help in identifying and eliminating potential default red flags prior to the approval/ disbursement of every loan, it also involves verification of general KYC/B information of customers, guarantors, employees or any other relevant parties.
    • Also be responsible for making deductions from several information sources at the various verification locations in order to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the information being verified
    • You are expected to work with the highest integrity as any falsified information/report provided during verification with mindset to aid poor quality loan disbursement would be considered fraud and the relevant legal processes would be initiated.

    Responsibilities

    • The Verification officer role is primarily responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of liaison, documentation and most importantly conducting verification through physical visits or other modes of communication.
    • Ensures full process compliance as outlined in the Operations Manual.
    • Ensures that the quality of the verification/investigation done is in accordance to Dataflow standards such that the correct verification process was followed by the Verification Associates with the necessary approvals in place to ensure that Operations protocols were followed.
    • Confirm the ownership of the business (neighbor reference).
    • Confirm the business activity is correctly stated.
    • During visitation, ensure clients shop and business address correspond with what is documented in the file; The address verification should be comprehensive and detailed, where possible sketch how to locate said address. Things like landmark, popular name amongst others should be infused into report.
    • Review the value of clients’ goods in the shop/home to ensure that proper evaluation was conducted before presentation for approval
    • Is the stock sighted in the shop /home worth the loan amount disbursed?
    • During client visitation, ensure customers’ balances are confirmed with them if they are met in shops in order to possibly uncover any cash suppression perpetrated by field/collections officers.
    • Note observations appropriately
    • Perform other task as assigned by verification and recovery manager.
    • Timely follow up and closure of assigned verification checks
    • Maintain day to day discipline in branch as per policies & procedures of the Company.
    • Meeting control requirements and maintaining integrity of data and reports
    • Perform all other functions as may be assigned by the relevant supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of B.Sc / HND in any Business related discipline.
    • In-depth geographical knowledge of Abuja and its environs.
    • Minimum of two (2) years working experience in credit risk or field verification is an added advantage

    Job Skills:

    • Ability to travel to local and nearby locations
    • Willingness to travel at short notice
    • Strong computer, tablet and printing capabilities
    • Must have the Ability to handle sensitive documents with the highest degree of confidentiality
    • Has persuasion skills that leads to timely delivery of tasks without compromising quality
    • Must be able to carry himself/herself and is presentable
    • Must be Courteous and willing to work on instructions
    • Must have an Eye for detail
    • Must be sincere and compliant to the organization’s guidelines
    • Must not use unfair means and practices to liaison
    • Should be reachable at all times and is good with ownership of tasks
    • Expert in local language and well versed in English
    • Additional languages are preferred (Good to Have)
    • Expert with the local culture
    • Should know how to do routing for visiting multiple clients within a stipulated time period.
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with a diverse range of people
    • Adaptability, to deal with external factors.
    • Dependability and excellent organizational, planning and administrative skills
    • The ability to problem-solve and think laterally.
