    Senior Devops Administrator

    The Role

    • We are seeking a bright, energetic, and motivated Senior DevOps Administrator, who will report to the Tech Director (Infrastructure and Cyber security), to work as a member of the technical team, building the next generation of MFS Africa’s products and services.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Install and configure Linux operating systems.
    • Manage and monitor network servers.
    • Deploy and configure MySQL databases.
    • Monitor performance and maintain application systems according to requirements.
    • Troubleshoot issues and outages by managing Cloud infrastructure.
    • Managing and troubleshooting the VPN connections

    Skills and competencies

    • Advanced knowledge and experience working with MySQL, and proficiency with Tomcat web server.
    • Proficiency in Google cloud and AWS architecture and its VPN configurations
    • Proficiency in devOps related activities.
    • Bonus: e-commerce, online payments, or banking/card payments experience
    • Advanced knowledge in mail, apache, selinux configurations on linux boxes
    • Linux server installation and hardening

    Governance Officer

    The Role 

    • This role plays an integral part in the Group’s governance oversight and company secretariat function, reporting to the General Counsel & Head of GRC and Group Company Secretary.
    • This role will support the Group Company Secretary with all matters related to the Group’s governance and company secretarial function, both at the Holding Company level and with subsidiary companies.     

    The duties and responsibilities captured within this role are as follows: 

    Company/Corporate Administration:  

    • Facilitating Board & Board Committee meetings; including servicing of notices of meeting, managing the governance calendar, preparing agendas, and circulating relevant papers. 
    • Taking and producing minutes to record the business transacted at the meetings and the decisions taken. 
    • Following up on action items from Board and Board Committee meetings.  
    • Drafting resolutions and lodging required forms and statutory filings with Companies House and other similar registers in other jurisdictions. 
    • Updating statutory books and serving as custodian thereof. 
    • Dealing with correspondence, collating information, writing reports, and communicating decisions to relevant company stakeholders. 
    • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and advise the Group Company Secretary of matters effecting the organisation. 
    • Supporting the process of conducting periodic Board evaluations. 
    • Coordinating and managing legal entity changes, and the establishment of new legal entities. 
    • Coordinating company secretarial support for all Group operating companies; and oversee adherence to the expected governance practices by the local entities. 
    • Managing engagement with external providers of specialized or specific jurisdictional company secretarial support. 

    Governance arrangements: 

    • Maintaining, and updating the Group Corporate Governance Framework (“CGF”) and Subsidiary Governance Framework (“SGF”) and serving as the custodian thereof. 
    • Drafting and maintaining subsidiary governance frameworks specific for each significant subsidiary company. 
    • Monitoring and updating the Policy Management Framework (“PMF”) and the group-wide policy register and serving as the custodian thereof. Overseeing the Group’s policies, monitoring the policy review cycle and ensuring policy reviews are undertaken by policy owners as per the approved timeframe.  

    Other responsibilities: 

    • Conducting ad-hoc research on relevant topics which may affect the organization. 
    • Drafting governance related policies and procedural documents, as required. 
    • Serving as the custodian of specific group-wide registers, such as regulatory approvals, key governance documents across the group, and correspondence with key stakeholders. 

    Skills and Competencies 

    • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English. French language skills would be a plus.  
    • Strong legal research skills and experience.  
    • Able to articulate one’s views in a clear and concise manner.  
    • Excellent listening skills, analytical and problem-solving aptitude.  
    • Able to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment. 
    • Comfortable working in a diverse, collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts. 
    • Some African experience would be preferable. 
    • Passionate about consistency, quality, and integrity in governance 
    • Collaborative working style, with the ability to identify and organize resources required to deliver on projects. 

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • Governance and secretarial experience required. 
    • Understanding of the UK Corporate Governance Code. 
    • Understanding and knowledge of relevant governance standards and frameworks.

    Legal Manager

    The Role 

    • This role is a commercial legal role within the Legal & Regulatory Affairs Department, with responsibility for providing legal and regulatory advice and guidance across the Group and to supports the Commercial team with legal advice and contract negotiations.    

    The duties and responsibilities captured within this role are as follows: 

    Commercial Legal Affairs:  

    • Providing guidance and oversight to the business on legal matters. 
    • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating of agreements/contracts. 
    • Providing legal support to the commercial teams through the drafting of and reviewing of contracts, negotiating of commercial terms and legal execution for commercial relationships. 
    • Serving as legal advisor to support internal stakeholders such as IT, commercial, treasury, compliance and other support departments.  
    • Oversight of the contract management tool/system for commercial contracting. 
    • Oversight of contract lifecycles and arranging for re-negotiation of terms where necessary. 
    • Conducting periodic reviews of existing legal documentation to ensure they remain relevant, applicable, and up-to-date.  
    • Identifying legal and regulatory risks in transactions, contracts and other activities conducted by the Group. 

    Regulatory Affairs: 

    • Providing guidance and oversight on regulatory matters.  
    • Monitoring and responding to regulatory developments across Africa and advising on the impact, if any, on MFS Africa and its business strategy.  
    • Supporting the Group’s efforts in acquiring new licenses and/or expansion of existing licenses. 
    • Playing a key role in ensuring MFS Africa’s compliance with the laws and regulations of each country in which we operate, by conducting frequent regulatory horizon scanning and advising on changes in law and regulation and how these might impact the organisation and its businesses. 

    Other Legal Matters 

    • Managing IP and IP registrations related to the business. 
    • Handling of contractual disputes. 
    • Together with external legal counsel, coordinating all litigation and legal proceedings. 
    • Providing data protection and privacy related advice. 
    • Carrying out legal audits from time to time to assess and monitor the legal standing of the organisation and its existing legal obligations. 
    • Adhoc legal advice. 

    This position is based in either Johannesburg, South Africa; Lagos, Nigeria; Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire; Port Louis, Mauritius, or Nairobi, Kenya and reports to the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs.

    • Qualified lawyer or holder of Degree of Master of Laws in a relevant jurisdiction, with working experience within the financial sector or at a law firm 
    • 5+ years’ experience in FinTech, consumer/digital financial services, and/or regulatory engagement. 
    • Deep, demonstrable, practical knowledge of driving, interpreting, and applying regulation in the context of consumer financial services. 
    • Pan-African exposure, experience, excitement, and expertise will be invaluable. 
    • Understanding of market and industry developments within the broader financial services sector that relate to legal and regulatory risks in Africa.

    Paralegal & Legal Operations Officer

    The Role 

    • This role plays an integral part in the Group’s Legal & regulatory Affairs function, reporting to Legal Manager. 
    • This role will support the Legal team with (a) legal research, (b) regulatory research, (c) legal operations, and (d) miscellaneous paralegal activities.     

    The duties and responsibilities captured within this role are as follows: 

    Legal Operations:  

    • Managing and tracking timelines associated with legal agreements and renewals thereof. 
    • Serving as the custodian of the legal agreement repository and ensuring that all legal agreements are up-to-date and renewed when they come due. 
    • Overseeing and managing the Contract Management System and ensuring that all information therein is up to date. 
    • Managing the contract finalisation and execution process. 
    • Supporting the compilation and submission of documents associated with license applications. 
    • Supporting with the compilation and upkeep of transaction templates. 
    • Supporting the legal team with ad-hoc organisational and administrative tasks.  

    Legal Research: 

    • Providing legal research to the Legal & Regulatory Affairs department and to the boarder MFS Africa Group. 
    • Conducting ongoing regulatory horizon scanning and sharing relevant findings with the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team. 
    • Providing ongoing research on regulatory matters in key markets. 
    • Conducting ad-hoc research on regulatory licenses and authorisation requirements.

    System Architect

    The Role

    • We are seeking a System Architect to join our team on permanent role. You will work alongside our Senior & Lead Architects in development projects.
    • This role is for an experienced System Architect who has in-depth knowledge of software architecture.
    • We are seeking candidates with 8+ years’ experience in Architecture and Design. The successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills, solid technical skills and creative problem-solving skills.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Working experience in development projects with hands-on coding skills (Java and Python)
    • Quick learning and do whatever is needed to help us accomplish our goals.
