    Quantity Surveyor

    Job Summary

    The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the supervision and control of all financial aspects associated with construction and maintenance projects. Collaborates closely with project teams, procurement professionals, contractors, and various project stakeholders to guarantee the efficient and economical execution of projects. The responsibilities cover cost estimation, procurement management, contract administration, and vigilant financial monitoring, all aimed at ensuring project timely and budget-conscious completion.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Cost Estimation: Accurately assess project costs by conducting detailed quantity take-offs and preparing bills of quantities (BOQs). Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify cost implications and potential cost-saving opportunities.
    • Contract Management: Administer contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions. Manage change orders, variations, and claims to control project costs.
    • Procurement: Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials, services, and subcontractors at competitive prices. Evaluate supplier bids and negotiate favourable terms to optimize project budgets.
    • Financial Monitoring: Track project expenses and maintain comprehensive cost reports. Identify cost variances and deviations from budget, and propose corrective actions as needed. Assist in preparing project budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Value Engineering: Engage in value engineering initiatives to maximize project value while minimizing costs. Evaluate alternative construction methods and materials to enhance project efficiency.
    • Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, assess the quality of work, and verify that work is according to contract specifications and drawings.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized project records, including all financial documents, contracts, change orders, and correspondence. Ensure proper
    • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Foster strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors. Provide regular updates on project cost status and participate in project meetings.
    • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and uncertainties related to project costs and develop risk mitigation strategies. Implement cost control measures to minimize financial risks.
    • Compliance: Stay current with industry regulations, construction codes, and best practices. Ensure that projects adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements for documentation of project-related activities.

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying. 
    • Master’s degree in construction management.
    • Minimum of 5 years of working experience.
    • Certified Project Manager PRINCE 2 practitioner.
    • Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) Quantity Surveyor’s Registration Board of Nigeria.
    • Professional Member Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
    • Certified HSE Level 3 Professional.

    IT Network Infrastructure and Information Security Lead

    Job Summary:

    To be responsible for managing and developing network infrastructure and cyber security, and supervising IT support staff. This position organizes, directs, controls and oversees the planning, implementation and overall operation that relates to network infrastructure and IT security.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise the IT Help Desk and network administration personnel.
    • Network administration and support (including, but not limited to, data, network and server infrastructure, VMware, malware protection, DNS, DHCP, data backups, security management, encryption, user account management, MS Exchange management, Disaster Recovery, telecom circuits, VoIP systems, Internet access and the operations of the data centres.)
    • Responsible for upgrading and managing the IT hardware and handling any issues related to Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and network segments.
    • Monitors network performance and efficiency, analyzes problems, and reviews and implements upgrades and solutions.
    • Participates in testing and evaluating new technologies; makes recommendations for the infrastructure improvements; coordinates, tests, and implements new products; ensures successful integration of systems.
    • Documents IT systems and processes. Maintains inventories of hardware and software licenses.
    • Keep abreast of network infrastructure technologies through research and continuing education.
    • Manage and direct compliance with security policies, procedures, and practices for Crystal Stairs IT infrastructure, information, and internet/intranet connectivity.
    • Manage and maintain software applications, such as firewalls, and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information.
    • Manage monitoring and alert activities, reports, and security dashboards to ensure compliance with company policy and procedures.
    • Manages preparation and execution of all internal and external IT-related audits.
    • Implement and manage information system security vulnerability scanning to discover and analyze vulnerabilities to support the characterization of risks to networks, operating systems, applications, databases, and other information system components.
    • Manage compliance scans and reports to analyze configurations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of IT & Business Innovation.
    • Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
    • Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
    • Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.
    • Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives.
    • Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
    • Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs.

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Statistics or any related discipline.
    • Professional certification will be an added advantage.

    • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of professional experience in similar capacity

    Skills and Competencies

    • Proficient knowledge of one or more programming languages such as PHP, Python, Node JS etc.
    • Strong understanding of the software development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
    • Good understanding of database management and SQL.
    • Good understanding of technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
    • Basic understanding of JavaScript frameworks like Ember, AngularJS, React Native, etc. 
    • Experience in ERP (e.g. Dynamics, Odoo etc) integration and/or development would be an added advantage.
    • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
    • Flair for implementing systems with security and data protection in mind.
    • Good cross-platform experience – understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
    • Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement.
    • Excellent time management skills.

    • Ability to work independently or with a group.
