    Engineer - Solutioning Network

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Engineer - Solutioning Network will manage the end-to-end delivery of any service, internal or external. The Engineer - Solutioning Network will have a complete overview on the network and the asset from Bayobab. The role will also provide technical support to Pre-sales team, Sales team and Commercial team when require for solution to the customer.

    Responsibilities

    Key Performance Areas: 

    Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    The Engineer - Solutioning Network will be accountable to achieve the following objectives: 

    • Manager the delivery of end-to-end wholesale capacity and managed network services (MPLS), both internationally and domestically within OpCos by working with the network teams within OpCos 
    • Support Low Level Design (HLD) of new link integrated, with all technical information’s 
    • Prepare a detailed handover documentation to NOC and Backoffice for each service delivered  
    • Provide inputs if required for solution design of L2VPN, L3VPN and SDH P2P or P2MP 
    • Provide various reports for customer request for wholesale to monitor the network and the services 
    • Liaise with network and technology teams in OpCos to understand the fixed infrastructure landscape in the countries 
    • Liaise with the GEBU SPOC and with the Enterprise business units to provide multi-country enterprise fixed line solutions 
    • Support the wholesales unit with solutions architecture capabilities when it is required
    • Ensure full customer satisfaction over the wholesale / solution delivery process 
    • Tailor and customize commercial solutions dependent on regulatory approval 

    Role Deliverables 

    • Inputs to complex client proposals, both internal (MTN OpCos, Enterprise business units) and external, from a technical point of view 
    • Analysis of the requests of the connectivity per period
    • Inputs for asset investment recommendations 
    • Integrated carrier wholesale solution design/landscape 
    • Defined Infrastructure plan for the international connectivity - Operational presentations 
    • Support internal customer for inputs on feasibility and solution design 
    • Assist customer meeting to provide technical support and inputs
    • Lead and manage cross-functional, collaborative teams on best practice for service delivery or process improvement initiatives  

    Role Dependencies 

    • Inputs for wholesales business units in client solution designs 
    • Understand the sales service order form and the customer requirements and translate to a technical solution 
    • Keep updated records of the services provisioned and circuit on the Global MTN infrastructure
    • Technical solutions alignment to regulatory approval across multiple jurisdictions

    Job Requirements 

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunication or Engineering
    • Training / Certification / Skills on the transmission network (Fiber, Microwave, satellite)
    • Training / Certification / Skills on IP/MPLS network
    • Training / Certification / Skills on project management

    Experience:

    • 3+ years’ experience in transmissions, IP/MPLS and Project management 
    • Key business soft skills including but not limited to problem solving, information processing, analytical understanding of key industry trends, influencing and motivating team members 
    • Data interpretation, quality focus, continuous improvement, keen to innovation and research and development, risk management and reporting skills 
    • Strong communication skills 
    • Highly client driven interactions

    Competencies:

    • Understanding of the fixed connectivity infrastructure wholesale landscape with a focus on emerging markets
    • Understanding of product and solution architecture in the fixed connectivity assets space

    General Manager - Business Growth

    Mission:

    Define and monitor the implementation of Digital Services’ ecosystem, partnership, product, and service growth strategies to acquire customers and grow revenues in alignment with MTNN’s business strategy and market requirements.

    Description:

    • Define the commercial growth strategy for Digital Services in line with MTNN’s overarching business goals - ensure effective implementation of the strategy by means of providing direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans and roadmaps
    • Regularly review the commercial growth strategy and roadmap to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem
    • Develop consistent, efficient, relevant, and standard policies, processes, and procedures for growing Digital Services’ partnerships, platforms, products, and services
    • Develop an intra-divisional Internal Stakeholder Engagement Strategy which includes but is not limited to the rationale for regular engagements (cross-functional meetings, sessions, and workshops), engagement format, communication plan, implementation plan, monitoring and review plan, performance metrics
    • Ensure that the Digital Business Growth team provides accurate, current, data-driven, relevant, and understandable analysis, FAQs, information, and reports – including but not limited to competitive intelligence, impacting trends, and weekly performance reports – as may be required to guide management decisions and support the business planning process
    • Develop and monitor the implementation of Digital Services’ ecosystem, partner, platform, and product growth strategies for multiple market segments across the entire spectrum of customers addressed by MTNN to acquire customers and grow revenues in alignment with the overall business strategy and market requirements
    • Establish the short, medium, and long-term road map for MTNN’s ecosystem, partner, platform, product, and service growth in alignment with MTNN’s business strategy
    • Develop and monitor the implementation of tactical plans – including but not limited to enhanced/new business models, business requirements, features, functionalities, partnerships, products, and services
    • Collaborate closely with the Digital Business Development team to define, drive, and monitor the design, documentation, development, implementation, testing, launch, management, review, and ongoing support of partnerships, platforms, products, and services for multiple customer segments
    • Develop a framework to understand competition(s) and provide solutions to react to competitive threats while monitoring the local and international environment to identify new platforms, products, and service opportunities
    • Interrogate and understand customer (expectations, needs, and priorities), product/service features, growth areas, markets, and trends about existing digital platforms, products, and services to identify new business opportunities
    • Monitor and improve MTNN’s NPS related to partnerships, platforms, products, and services
    • Drive differentiation through better customer experiences and digital channel transformation to create new routes to market and ensure that services/products are easily accessible to customers
    • Contribute to the development of MTNN’s long-term business strategy to position MTN as a leading digital services provider 
    • Develop strategies to identify and fulfil the expectations, needs, and priorities of external stakeholders, e.g., aggregators, content partners, regulators, and service partners

    Advisor - Learning and Talent Management Technology and Enablers (NWK and IT)

    Mission:

    • To provide support and advisory services with respect to talent development and career management.
    • Responsible for providing academic and career advice to MTNN staff pursuing or planning to pursue academic or professional programs through the Accredited Learning Scheme.

    Description:

    • Identify and document participant tracking methods and MTNN accountability requirements.

    Manager - Cable Landing Station.

    Description

    • Implement changes effected by the system controlling body to system maintenance procedures. 
    • Prepare and submit a monthly report to the system controlling body, of the status and details of any incidents that occurred affecting the WACS (define) segment.
    • Supervise test and installations of the cable station equipment and the submerged plant
    • Design and develop new maintenance routines for the Power Feed Equipment, 1620LM and 1678 MCC 
    • Ensure accurate interpretation of  BER (define) parameters and impairment budgets, and work with the NOC (define) and maintenance authority to ensure prompt resolution of all impairments 
    • Ensure prompt information to  the maintenance controlling body of any threat, or possibility of a threat, be it maritime or terrestrial, to the maintenance security of the system or the traffic being transported on the system
    • Confirm all scheduled system routine procedure have been carried out, and  results of the routine have been recorded in the prescribed manner
    • Provide sufficient knowledge / information  to maintain the WACS (define) system performance throughout the Network Design Life
    • Control the power feed operations necessary for the maintenance of the relevant segment (T7).what is T7
    • Control of the localization of faults in the submerged system plant within the WACS Nigeria segment (T7). 
    • Oversee the records of status and whereabouts of all spare equipment and/or equipment dispatched for repair.
    • Oversee the records of the MTN allocated, assigned, and activated capacity.
    • Implement all relevant WACS Work Group and Subcommittee obligations
    • Develop and review the WACS Joint System Maintenance Documentations (JSMD) or any other documentation as regards the management and operations of Submarine transmission within agreed deadlines.
    • Supervise and implement planned works with special attention to life affecting traffic in conjunction with submarine NOC. Network Operations Center.
    • Assign and supervise engineers conducting emergency operational procedures at odd hours in event of submarine cable cut on call-out basis.
    • Review performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

    Education:

    • First degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or a related discipline
    • Fluent in English

    Experience:

    6 - 13 years’ experience which includes:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience in supervising/managing others
    • Experience in Telecommunication industry, with strong knowledge and specific experience using multiplexers, DWDM, SDH, Power Feed Equipment (PFE) fibre optic transmission equipment.
    • Experience in management of optical backbone and submarine cable system projects.
    • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the ALU 1620LM, 1678MCC and PFE
    • Demonstrate deep understanding of the design philosophy of the WACS Network down to component level, analyze segment and network performance.
    • Demonstrate high level of technical skill and understanding in the operation of the WACS network, WACS wet plant and dry plant and any other submarine cable station or capacity where MTN have interest.
