    Media Relations and Issue Management (PR)

    Job Role

    Organize effective media relation programme and initiatives in order to develop a credible relationship between the Bank’s subsidiaries and the media as a stakeholder.

    Functions and Responsibilities

    • Write newsworthy stories for Banks within African subsidiaries
    • Develops, maintains, and manages a proactive media relations programme/annual media plan.
    • Report newsworthy mentions across all subsidiaries monthly
    • Dispenses newsworthy information to the media.
    • Provides media/publicity support to SBUs events.
    • Prompt and efficient interface with the media for media relations programme and annual media plan executions
    • Establish and maintain strong contact and relationship with media – News editors, sub-editors, photo editors and key journalists.
    • Ensure prime and advantageous coverage of the Bank’s activities and events above competition.
    • Monitors and manage potentially damaging stories emanating from the media and the environment about the organization.
    • Organizes Press Conferences, Media briefings and interactive sessions for media relationship management and information dissemination.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head, Corporate Communication

    Team Lead ESG/Sustainability

    Job Role

    Drive the development and execution of a broad-based, organization-wide strategic social ESG/Sustainability agenda, integrating ESG/Sustainability across African Subsidiaries Ensuring that ESG/Sustainability effort enhances business performance and supports the long-term interests of the African Subsidiaries Agenda.

    Functions & Responsibilities

    • Set direction for global policy and programs on ESG/Sustainability to deliver a business that is economically viable and operates in an ethical, socially, and environmentally responsible manner.
    • Lead efforts to create an ESG/Sustainability vision for the organization encompassing people, profit, and planet.
    • Secure and leverage Executive level commitment and support for integrating sustainable development into core processes and decision-making.
    • Assess the ESG/Sustainability performance, identify and prioritize key ESG/Sustainability issues across African Subsidiaries
    • Lead the implementation of long-term ESG/Sustainability vision, mission, and operating principles, and lead the development of a high-level strategy to support them.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop a coordinated ESG/Sustainability plan across all African Subsidiaries
    • Build ESG/Sustainability principles into short and long-term plans being implemented across African Subsidiaries
    • Oversight function for effective implementation of ESG/Sustainability strategy and review of initiatives to ensure they align with the strategic objectives of the Bank’s ESG/Sustainability agenda.
    • Serve as the internal leader and “go to” expert for ESG/ESG/Sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues, and communicating/educating others on ESG/Sustainability topics.
    • Lead the interface with any and/or all government agencies and departments, domestic and international, relating to African Subsidiaries responses to questions or statements of position on ESG/Sustainability related matters.
    • Measure and monitor progress against ESG/Sustainability strategies, objectives, and performance targets.
    • Strategically lead and supervise implementation of community development initiatives including oversight for employee volunteering across the African Subsidiaries
    • Work with credible Non-Governmental Organizations, Civil Society, and relevant Government agencies on the implementation of community development initiatives across all subsidiaries.
    • Offer expertise and provide Supervisor-level support for initiatives to reduce for Subsidiaries resource consumption and waste generation
    • Supervise the implementation of communication strategies to publicize the African Subsidiaries ESG/Sustainability efforts and promote broad awareness of ESG/Sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally.
    • Representing organization in various capacities with respect to the African Subsidiaries membership and/or participation with reputable local and international organizations such as United Nations agencies (UNGC, etc.) amongst others.
    • Lead, in conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders, the process of various stakeholder engagement sessions for customers, suppliers, shareholders, investors, communities/NGOs, amongst others.

    Team Member, Marketing & Communications, African Subsidiaries

    Job Description

    • Provide strategic marketing support and execution that will expand the retail business through marketing & communications in the African Subsidiaries
    • Support retail marketing strategy and communications as well as corporate communications oversight for the African subsidiaries.
    • Support strategy and policy direction for internal and external communications of the African subsidiaries, including advertising, branding and image management
    • Develop and implement Strategic brand management plans working with all heads of Comms in the respective African markets and ensure compliance across all businesses of the group.
    • Provide support for Marketing communications and advertising strategies for the Africa Subsidiaries businesses to achieve business brand objectives
    • Provide oversight for corporate social responsibility strategy and programs from the Africa subsidiaries
    • Provide support to Africa Subsidiaries management on strategic communications, crisis communication, issues management etc.
    • Manage relationships with key Africa and international media representatives.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

    Regular/Routine  

    • Support the establishment of strategy and policy direction for the African subsidiaries working with the Group marketing and Group Corporate communications as regards internal and external communications and corporate relations, including publicity and public relations, advertising, branding and image management
    • Support articulation of brand goals and objectives and provide leadership for African subsidiaries with respect to marketing & Communications.
    • Reinforce guidelines for and ensure compliance for brand standardization and quality control and audit across the African subsidiaries
    • Work with the Group Marketing & Comms and Group Corporate Comms to define and execute clear objectives and KPIs for marketing & Comms heads across the African Subsidiaries.
    • Work with the Sustainability team at Access Corporation to define corporate social responsibility strategies and project definition/execution including budget allocation and management for the African subsidiaries.
    • Track brand/perception indicators across the Africa business in line with established KPIs set by Group and Corporation.
    • Ensure uniform and excellent execution of marketing campaigns across the Africa business with set goals based on business objectives.
    • Perform other functions as assigned by the Head of Marketing African Subsidiaries.
